I have an old OSCommerce store that I built myself, but now I don't have time to upgrade it. I also need at least one additional module to be installed.
My existing shop can be seen here: [login to view URL]
I am looking for a freelancer who can do the upgrade process for me, moving to OSCommerce version 3.0.
My shop sells:
T-shirts - these require code to track the stock numbers per size and display the available range
Badges - these require stock tracking
Bags - these require stock tracking
MP3 downloads - these will be coming soon after your work is completed and will be available for free or for payment
Part of yoru job will be to anticipate good modules to use to sell these items effectively, providing a smooth experience for the customer and the shop administrator.
The shop needs to:
Support international shipping rates.
Support shipping by weight of products.
Support mixed shopping carts of physical and digital products and the relevant shipping costs.
Track sales and stock.
The shop that you deliver will have the same listed products as the existing shop. I expect the products and their data to be migrated as part of your work; however, if for example you wish to install a different stock tracking system, I am happy to re-enter the quantities into the new system as long as you can provide a reasonable list of the stock values in the existing shop. I do not want to re-enter the names and descriptions into the shop again if at all possible to avoid this.
Currently the shop has modules that permit the following:
Show three sizes of image for each product (thumbnail for listings, mid-size for product listing, larger for click-to-enlarge links on the product listing page).
Keep track of stock numbers and automatically remove out-of-stock sizes or items from the being listed in the shop (e.g. if a T-shirt sells out of the medium size, the medium size will no longer be listed as an option for purchase).
Support for UK counties (e.g. Hampshire, Surrey, etc.) in customer's addresses.
Support for US states and international locations in customer's addresses.
Integration with PayPal and SecureTrading payment systems.
This functionality *must* be retained, but you have the option of which module you achieve it with, as long as it is user-friendly for me once you are finished.
The shop absolutely *must* retain the PayPal and SecureTrading integration. These already exist and function correctly in the current shop. I am happy to test this once you have the shop set up.
I would like to have added:
Infopages Unlimited module, or something similar.
Simple Template System module, or something similar.
Define Mainpage module, or something similar.
Support for MP3 downloads in carts with mixed items (physical and downloadable goods) - this *must* include the option to make the MP3s available for free.
During the upgrades, you will put a basic placeholder page on the shop informing people that a shop upgrade is in process. This page will display the date that the work began and the estimated date and time that the shop will be available again.
Once the shop is complete it will use a basic template that is presentable and usable. It is not your job to design the look of the shop, but you are obliged to deliver a basic shop using the default template or another that is similarly functional and ready for my visual customisations.
I will test all of the modules once they are installed to ensure that they work. I'm a reasonable coder, capable of PHP and database coding, but I am out of practice and would rather not get involved with bug fixing. Eliminating bugs with your installation will be your responsibility as part of this work, but this will be for a reasonable and limited period after your work is concluded. If very rare bugs turn up after a few months then I will consider small additional payments to fix them.
The successful freelancer bidding for this job will have good communication skills in English, will be willing to receive feedback on their work, and will be able to use their own judgement to deliver the best functions for my requirements that have been stated above.
The tasks to focus on are getting the shop to sell the products listed at the top of this description is the most user-friendly way (for myself and my customers). If you can demonstrate an understanding and make suggestions about how to best achieve an effective eCommerce shop for these tasks then you are the coder for me!
As an additional incentive, if you do good work on this shop then there may be additional work available on two further shops and the option of repeat custom for later upgrades and module installation. I am looking at this as a potential beginning of a long-term client-coder relationship, so small web-design companies are welcome to bid. This is not certain, but I do tend to return to trusted coders over the years.
Your work will preferably be completed inside one week. I am happy for my shop to be offline for 3-4 days during your work if necessary, but minimisation of this offline time would be good.
You will be given access to the database and FTP sections of my site. I have been running this site for around eight years and so the data on there is valuable to me on a personal level as well as professionally, including some creative work that has not been made public. You must restrict your actions to things that are directly related to upgrading the shop. By accepting this work you are agreeing to obey these conditions and keep all access details absolutely confidential.
I expect bids on this work to be between $150-350, depending on your experience and portfolio of previous work. I will not necessarily go for the cheapest offer, instead looking for providers of quality code, and may pay more if I believe that I am going to get good work with friendly coders who provide bug-free functionality that makes my life easier and fulfils all my requirements. As I have said before, I have done this kind of work before, and know that it is not exceptionally hard, only moderately time consuming, so don't expect to pay extravagant fees for it. Counter to this, I do understand the complexity of some of the OSCommerce systems and I am paying for your skills and knowledge of how it will be best to achieve my goals.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Dear Sir, I am interested in your project and can be done with your 100% satisfaction. I request you to check your PM for our quality work. Payment in Milestones. Thanks & Regards Webexpertz Team
