Just to follow up – I have located the following free plugin which may do the trick! Is it possible to install this plugin on one of the website shopping carts so we can test it to see if it is fit for purpose before rolling it out to all three carts:
[url removed, login to view]
please let me know what you think and also what you need (in terms of access to the cart) to make this possible.
Further to our brief call this afternoon, I am a director at Ultimate Guide Media Ltd, a UK publishing company that translates and prints magazines in German for the German market. The magento website shopping carts I am interested in you assisting with are:
[url removed, login to view] (contains all of our magazine products)
[url removed, login to view] (contains Men's Fitness related titles only)
[url removed, login to view] (contains Digital and technology titles only)
The MF and Digi shopping carts were recently created from a copy of the Ultimate Guide cart and then tailored to suit the reader. We wanted to keep our customers on the same domain name when they were buying our products and decided that pointing them all to [url removed, login to view] was not a good idea. However, this now means we have three databases to maintain (albeit that not all products are put onto each website). Simplifying this (if possible) would form part of the later stages of development.
As an immediate fix I would like to offer the ability of automatically renewing subscriptions. I have found a subscription "bolt on" for Magento online but I am not sure if this works with Moneybookers which is our payment provider, offering the flexibility of payments offered across Europe. We offer six month and 12 month subscriptions of our various titles some of which are published quarterly and some which are published monthly (so we end up with subscription deals that run for 4 issues, 6 issues, 8 issues and 12 issues) which we would like to auto-renew at the end of the period. We also offer trial subscriptions (as an example Euro 9,90 for 3 issues of Men's Fitness monthly magazine) which we would like to automatically convert into 12 month subscriptions at the end of the trial period.
Finally, if it is relatively straightforward (and not expensive) to implement the auto-renew functionality, I would like the MF and Digi shops to have the same look and feel as their respective main websites. Initially, this could be as simple as adding the same skin to the shopping cart that appears on the main website (I have performed some research and this doesn't appear to be too complicated as you can ask magento to use a different template) but I am not sure how this would look. beyond changing the skin, I would also like to discuss how complicated it would be to "embed" the shopping cart into the current websites so the same headings/ adverts/ side bars appear on the top and sides.
I look forward to receiving your feedback on cost and timeframe for the implementation of the auto-renew functionality that integrates with Moneybookers. I would also then be interested to hear your views on the second part of my requirements.
