We host servers based on Xen techonology, we offer first line support
on this. Sometimes we don't have time to help our costumers. In this case you come in. In pricipal no expertise about Xen is needed, but offcourse is is prefferable. All virtual servers in the Xen envirioment are fully controllable as a real "stand-alone" server, including reboots, system halts etc. All virtual servers are Debian based.
Our servers are Xen based they run everything a client desires: samba, mysql, apache, postfix, webmail, firewall, proxy (with content filter), antivirus etc etc etc. All opensource, Linux (Debian Based) If there is a upgrade needed or a configuration setting, a extra xen server, a new website in apache, a new client in samba, new email accounts or anything else we don't have time for ourselves. We run a two-man operation and one has his own other ICT related company he spends most of his time in, and we want to have about 50 or 100 clients equipped with our xen servers with up to 10 virtual servers.
Some clients have a failover server. Equipped with one of the following options:
A) Realtime failover with a backupserver running Xen, network sync with drbd. To provide immidiate backup in case the main server fails.
B) Backupserver wich is updated three times per day with rsync. This one is configured with a working Xen configuration same as the real server to provide semi-immediate backup.
C) Backup server to remove locatation (datacenter, in wich we have a big co-located server) with rsync, or if client wishes with a fast SDSL connection to provide backup as said in A).
Some clients will have an extra 24/7 connection to the internet with failover, so the server will be accesible at all times.
If a clients has errors or wants a configuration change and we don't
have time, we want somebody to do it for us.
We need a list of system admins we can contact, devided geographically to provide 24/7 support. If your work is good and
quick you will, offcourse, be set higher in our contact list.
So the more replies we get the better.
You will be provided with all information about the setup, hardware, network topology and everything you need. You get a temorary (as long as you need it) ssh account, with access to all files you need. You can contact me trough email or telephone during working hours (07:00 until 22:00, based on GMT+1, we are based in the Nertherlands.
You will provide support and system administration for one or more
clients (up to all 50 or 100 clients if needed) depending on your own free time you have to spend on this project.
You will provide support for a particular service: Web, Mail, Samba
etc depending on your own capacities, sometimes it will be only adding users, maybe it will be a "real" problem in which a lot of expertise is needed. If your skills cover more than one area you
will offcourse support more services.
Support will be on very irregular basis, maybe once every two months
for one client, maybe 10 clients per day.
You will have to have a quick response time, prefferably 1 or 2 hours
or less, if you do not respond within the timeframe we contact another sysadmin on our list.
You will be paid an hourly rate.
