Microsoft eMbedded Visual Basic 3.0 to Microsoft Visual Basic .NET 2003 Upgrade. The system is a handheld stock control system running on HHP Dolphin Scanners with a mix of Pocket PC 2002 & 2003 operating systems. (Please read deliverables section for detailed requirements). I need a coder whose expertise is in the area of Visual Basic .Net and who is very familiar with eMbedded Visual Basic. Experience or an in-depth understanding of mobile handheld solutions will be a distinct advantage with this project. I will be available to answer any questions by email and will usually respond very quickly. I am also available to test as required. However I need a coder who will make this project their own and use their skill, initiative and common sense to bring this project to a successful completion. I have attached a PDF & JPG of a form directly from the system and the code that’s behind it. I have tried to find the most complex and largest (code wise) form that uses all of the technologies of the system including scanning a barcode, requesting information from, and updating the database, and printing a label. You can assume that all forms will be no more complex than this. In terms of the number of lines of code, this single form represents about 11% of the entire project. Good luck! ## Deliverables The current system is built entirely in eVB 3.0 and includes the following key attributes: * The project consists of 23 forms and 2,324 lines of code compiled into a single [login to view URL] file. * Database connectivity is via CE Fusion with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as the database, using simple standard SQL CRUD statements. Only a small handful of tables are actually accessed by this system. * The system prints labels to Zebra printers by passing variables into ZPL/CPL text files and sending the file to the printer. * Navigation and the graphical user interface is clean and simple. * There is no overly complex code. The code and functionality of the system should be easy to read for most good vb coders. What’s required: * We require the entire project to be upgraded to Microsoft Visual Basic .NET 2003. * Database connectivity should be upgraded to ODBC or direct access resulting in CE Fusion being taken out of the picture. * The system uses handheld scanners so you will need to add what ever components or references that are required to scan barcodes. * Upon delivery of the new project, the system will be tested extensively until all bugs are ironed out. After which time payment will be promptly released to you. * Detailed instructions on how to install the new application on the handheld scanners must be included with the delivery. Both Pocket PC 2002, 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 operating systems. * Deliverables include all source code and project files. What’s **not** required: * You are not required to change or enhance the code or the functionality of the system. However, as a consequence of upgrading to vb.NET you will naturally enhance the code as you rewrite it and this is fine. * You are not required to rewrite or change the ZPL or CPL code, only replicate the printing functionality. * You are not required to modify or upgrade the SQL (But feel free to adjust for better performance if you see fit). What you will receive: * The entire eVB source code project files. * The SQL Server 2000 database with sample data. More requirements... 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
