This project involves 2 network design projects. The 2nd is based off of the 1st.
1st Project Part I: A description of the current network 1. A description of the organization A) Size and purpose of the organization: The organization must have at least 300 employees and three locations. What kind of business is it? B) Potential growth of the organization in terms of people and services: Assume at least 10 to 15 percent growth over the next two years. C) Number of mission-critical applications on the network: Such as accounting, inventory, etc. D) Important cycles for the business or organization: Such as summer, Christmas season, etc. E) Relationship of the network resources to the mission of the business or organization: For instance, CAD department might need plotters or color printers, or the warehouse might need bar code equipment, etc. F) Current security devices and policy in place: Consider what users must do to log on to the network, who has access to what resources, what security features limit internal and external access, etc. 2. A description of the current network, including network media, topology and hardware. (You may wish to use a table for this section.) A) Number and kinds of workstations B) Number and kinds of servers and host computers C) Network topology D) Network communications media E) Types of network devices in place F) Telecommunications services (WAN topologies for connecting three locations) G) Current network performance statistics (current bandwidth utilization) 3. Simple network design of current network Show the structure of the current network including servers, routers, switches, etc. For desktops/workstations , use only one to represent multiples and indicate the number in a text description. This diagram does not need to be detailed. To indicate specifics, include a text description. Part II: A description of the proposed changes Write a brief description of your network upgrade solution(s). (For example, if the company grows 15 persent, there will be an additional 45 employees; or if increases in sales require the network to accommodate an additional 100 customers). What changes would need to be made to the current network to address these growth requirements? The plan might include some of the following: Increase the number of workstations, servers, and printers. Increase or install networking devices such as routers and switches. Revise or renegotiate current telecommunications services. Increase the current network bandwidth . Upgrade media and/or topology. Implement security measures to accommodate new Web servers. 2nd Project is attached
