I want to build an online forum. The forum is about value investing so it will attract value investors. I have most of the categories and headings in mind. The admin should be able to add or delete categories/headings/ threads etc. also moving threads etc. One of the Categories in the forum will be about undervalued stocks. So it will go like this: Category: undervalued stocks Under it there are "headings" of sectors. Undervalued stocks in energy, undervalued stocks in banking etc. Under Sectors there will be "subheadings" of Exchanges. i.e. NYSE, NASDAQ and NYSEAMEX I want all the stocks on these exchanges covered. They will be somewhere above 1800 according to the Google finance. I want all those 1800 stocks in my universe/CMS, so I can do whatever I want to do with the stocks. Whoever is awarded the project will also make it possible that I can add stocks in future should the need arises. I also want to keep the sectors headings as we see in Google finance. They are total 12. And then the Exchanges will be having subheadings of Market Caps: * Mega-cap: Over $200 billion * Large-cap: Over $5 billion * Mid-cap: $1 billion-$5 billion * Small-cap: $250 million-$1 billion * Micro-cap: Below $250 Million * Nano-cap: Below $50 million Depending on the availability of undervalued stocks, there might be all or few of the market cap subheadings in a particular exchange. We should be able to manage everything from the CMS. So the member is still on the first page and looking at the category of undervalued stocks, with the headings of sectors, their subheadings Exchanges, and their subheadings of different market Caps. It is when the he clicks any market cap, he will come to the other page where the stocks will be arranged in alphabetical order. All the stocks are provided by the admin. Here he finds name of companies with illuminated tickers, with price and percent increase /decrease. Now one more thing, there should be three boxes side by side to it with the headings of "fair value", "next year growth estimate" and "next 5 years growth estimate" of the stocks. These three boxes should look very eye catching. We should be able to have AUTOMATIC UPDATES about the growth estimates whenever yahoo changes it. For the fair value input, I will need a drop down menu in CMS to make the task easier. Under it the fresh thread can be seen so that members know they are almost there in the forum. When they click the underlying thread or the ticker, they are in the forum with all the threads about that stock. They are most welcome to start a new thread whenever they want. This page should mention name and ticker of stock on top with price/percent increase/decrease. After clicking a particular thread the member will see the posts page. On the top of this posts page, ALL THE DATA about that particular stock should be present. Everything about a stock. For example when we put a stock ticker in the quote box of [[login to view URL]][1] we get EVERYTHING about that stock. But you have to compress the whole data in relatively narrow space. What I want is that when a member enters this page he should not only be seeing the whole data, but also the posts. He doesn't have to scroll down the page to see the posts when he first time enters the posts page. The data should look very eye catching, and neat and beautiful. This same arrangement will work for the categories of highest and lowest performing stocks, special situation stocks and stocks of famous value investors. The stock tickers with price/percent will just look like what we see on yahoo /Google finance/smartmoney.com. They keep changing throughout the day. They don't have to be real time quotes. If quotes are 15-20 minutes delayed it's not a problem. Also there will be contests for example best Stock idea contest. Here things like: only members can join in and vote, submissions open, Last day of submission, date when all Ideas are ready to be seen and voted by members. Last day to vote, minimum votes required to win, one member one vote, only the members with certain post count can vote etc etc Members will be provided two writing pads (space). In upper pad, they can write some fundamentals of the stock. In the lower, they can write to defend their idea. Again we should have control how much they can write. Once the poll starts, members must be able to see the price graph of all submitted stocks (for the contest) since the time of submission till the polls, and also during the polls. Polls may last 1-60 days. The time span from the date of submission to the date of polls can be variable. Let's say between 10 - 90 days ? sometimes less sometimes more. Once a stock winner is announced, the members should be able to see the winner stock price graph of the next 12 months. There will be archives for old stock idea winners with their price graph for the next twelve months For the articles contest, same as above (except price graph) plus word limit controlled by admin etc it will require only one writing pad. All Important happenings in the contests should be reflected on the top of first page. Some of the common stuff about all forums: *Admin panel *Moderators panel *Ability to start, delete, move, shuffle categories, headings, subheadings, threads etc *member of the month (someone who has the highest number of posts. A post here will be counted as minimum 15 words. But we should be able to change the criteria) *word sensor where most of the bad words can be censored and we can always add more words from CMS * using only one * for bad word. *smiles and expression *post count under member name *a post is only counted if it is minimum 15 letters. We should have option to change these criteria *threads not active for 30 days are automatically closed. But again we need options to change it *members will receive automatic birthday wishes email *I want members to upload their avatars and signatures to my server rather than allowing them to link to other servers * After registration they would have to activate the link sent to their email account etc *We miss you email if a member doesn't show up for some time. We should be able to manage when to send it automatically And all the related basic features which are essential for a forum. Pleas let me know how you are going to build this forum? Can this job be done without third party subscription/membership/fee? If so that will be great? OR it can only be done through subscriptions etc and there is absolutely no way to skip them? Once again I want all those 1800 stocks in my universe/CMS, so I can do whatever I want to do with the stocks. I am also hoping that there will be an automatic system which will automatically update any piece of information about any stock. I should also be able to add additional stocks should the need arises. Also should we use PHP or ASP.NET for this? I also want to add rotational Ads. How exactly it will work and what will be required from my end? Please let me know? There will also be recommended reading (books) category with Amazon affiliate. I want to have a CMS which is extremely easy to use with plenty of options. I want a design which is very simple but highly appealing?very eye catching? I want a forum which is very friendly, very professional and very easy to navigate. All the stock related data should be extremely beautiful and professional. Please also let me know how many months of tech support will be included in your bid price after the launch of the forum.
