I have designed a new Joomla 2.5 / Virtuemart 2 based webshop, and everything, design-wise, is almost complete. Every function is working and the Chrome F12 shows no warnings or errors. The only problem is that loading-times on the entire site are way too slow.
When I click a link to acces any page on my site I can see, in the browser loader-icon, that it seems the site "hangs" 1 - 3 seconds before actually starting to load up the new page. Once the actual loading of the page begins it seems to load pretty quick..
So I don´t know if this is an SQL, PHP or JS-problem.
I have tried different "speed-up" components without success, but I guess I know way too little about optimization to really use those tools to the fullest.
I don´t know if this is related to the poor performance on the site or not, but sometimes I experience the following error when trying to load the product list-view in the Virtuemart admin with more than 500 poducts listed:
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error
I also get this error whenever I try to view my xml-sitemap from the component "Xmap v2.2.1", and this is actually another big issue, because I really need the sitemap to work.
The only performance-enhancing component that I currently use is "jQuery Easy Plugin" from Olivier Buisard, which is needed to sort out some JS-conflicts I had on the site.
Maybe those conflicts are also related to the problem, but I simply can´t figure it out.
Here are my system specs:
PHP version: 5.3
MySQL version: 5.5
Joomla version: 2.5.6
Virtuemart version: 2.0.6
What I´m looking for is a professional with experience in optimixing Joomla/Virtuemart 2 websites to take a closer look at my site and hopefully elliminate the "lag" and overall speed things up on my site.
After the work is done I also want the worker to give me a short list of things I can do myself to keep the site running at optimal speed in the future.
