I need a "Drag and drop" style up loader with a ‘select image’ button as a secondary option.
Before any image is uploaded the words "Drag & Drop to upload an image" or similar to that effect, with a Select images button below should be shown.
Alongside the separate image upload bars on each image thumb, a main upload bar should show along the bottom, this should show the amount of time until all images are uploaded. Above the latter bar it should show the amount of images uploading out of the total amount to upload (i.e. Uploading 1 of 4).
The original php script for uploading images will be provided, in this script, it has one of two options, uploading with an account and uploading without an account but with a watermark. The new up loader will only allow registered users to upload images, and the adding of the watermark can be totally discarded.
At the top left of the upload system in a sub header it should have a drop down of albums, and the option of uploading as private or public (private as default). If no album is selected the images will just upload as normal.
There will be two buttons in the bottom right , Cancel and Save. The cancel button will discard the upload and all images previously uploaded in this session. The save button will save the images to the users account, if save isn’t clicked, no images from the upload session will be saved. Once save is pressed a ‘loading bar’ should replace the upload system, with the % of which the upload(save) is completed.
In the original script once the images have been uploaded it gives the option to share the images on twitter, facebook and g+. This should still happen, once the upload is complete, all images that have been uploaded as public should be shown, with a ‘share’ bar along the bottom.
**All upload bars should run in real time, showing the amount the image is uploaded by and not just a gif.
I have knocked up a few quick simple guides in photoshop for a visual aid of the main parts, please check them out.
Html5 can be used, but will need a fallback for the least up to date browsers.
A good UX knowledge is needed, with a GUI created with the “One button or less” motto in mind. Simplicity is key, easy to understand and use is a must, in a nutshell we want it so even your 90 year old granny could work out how to upload an image.
Please provide links to previous work, of a similar nature if possible.
I look forward to hearing from you, and hopefully a long, strong future of working together on future implementations to our sites.
