I'm starting an art portal website, and I'm using OSCommerce (PHP app) for the shopping cart, but some aspects of OSCommerce do not meet my needs. OSCommerce currently only has one admin method: for the site owner. This Admin needs to be cleaned up, and better commented and made so that you can check off multiple items and delete or change them in one click instead of one by one. I would also like to be able to change site colors from within the Admin. I also need artists/buyers to administrate their own accounts, and add their own files. This can be a modified and limited form of the existing admin files, they need to add images and database info about each image, add calendar info to my site database. the images and data need to go into a holding folder, segregated by artist, waiting for me to approve the image and info before I can make thumbnails and place the images in the artist's folder
I also need to have a specialized chat, designed specificly to critique artwork. It will need 3 panes, one to display an image, the second to display questions, some preset, others added by the artist, the last Pane will be for chatting. the the critique process involves several steps designed to keep the chat focused on the critique, first the image will flash for a set time period (maybe 30 seconds) then it will disappear and the viewer will answer questions about impact and first impressions, after the answers are all submitted the image is put back and there are more questions, when the questions are done the chat will be available and the image will remain until all viewers click a next image button, then the process starts over again. this critique-chat can be done in any format (java, C++, VB, whatever floats your boat) so long as it can save the answers to the questions to the sql database.
