We need a utility to process files in a directory to check for tif file validity and handle some simple tif conversion actions. We are seeking a programmer with a strong background in graphics file conversion and a good understanding of image resolution and quality. It must be launchable from a batch file with arguments to control the following three job options. 1) Grayscale (yes/no) If the file is a valid tif and the argument value equals “yes??, it will create a grayscale version of the image with a “_gs?? appended to the root of the file name (e.g., [url removed, login to view] generates [url removed, login to view]). Resolution of the gray scale should be as high as the original image). If the image is not a tif file, or the tif file is invalid, or the argument value is “no??, nothing is done. 2) JPG (0 - 10) If 0, then no jpg is created. If the file is not a valid tif, then no jpg is created. If 1 or greater, it creates a jpg version of the image with a suffix of .jpg (e.g., [url removed, login to view] generates [url removed, login to view]). Resolution quality is from 1 to 10 (low to high), depending on the value. Our test of this functionality will be to compare the output of this utility with the output from the tif to jpg converter inside Adobe Photoshop. We will compare at levels 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10. We would expect the size and quality to be roughly comparable. 3) Thumbnail (yes/no) If the argument is “yes?? and the graphic is a tif, jpg, or png, it will create a thumbnail jpg version of the image with a “.[url removed, login to view]? appended to the file name (e.g., [url removed, login to view] generates a file called “[url removed, login to view]?. This file is to be created at the lowest jpg resolution (equivalent to Photoshop level 1) for fast download. If the argument value is no, then nothing is done. A report file should be prepared to give a detailed listing of the files found in the directory, the new files that have been created, and the date of the process. It should also report invalid files.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. Public license software is ok.
Our expectation is that this utility be written in Java, C++, or Delphi. The use of public libraries is ok.
