What we require is a C++ based activesync service for Pocket PC based hand-helds that will provide the following:
the recursive synchronisation of a set of one or more named directories with named equivalents on the Pocket PC, with updated/new files within each directory being transferred in either direction based on timestamp.
Note that there are two types of files are to be sync'd: a binary format that contains a timestamp in the header, and plain text files with the normal filesystem timestamp. C++ Code to read the binary timestamp will be supplied. (very simple C++ API).
The directories to be sync'd and the file types they contain must be configurable. The most desirable option is through the windows registry.
We also require an easy installation/registration mechanism for the service that can be executed from installshield.
here is an example:
we have 1 directory: 'C:\Devices' that must be synchronised with PocketPC directory '\Program Files\Devices'. These directories C:\Devices and \Program Files\Devices contain many subdirectories (up to depth of 3) with each leaf containing up to 5 files. Upon synchronisation both C:\Devices and \Program Files\Devices will contain the same set of files, being the most recent versions from both sources.
in addition we have a further directory: 'C:\Application' that must be synchronised with PocketPC directory '\Program Files\Application'. Again the files in this directory are spread throughout the (recursive) directory structure, and need to sync'd based on their filesystem timestamp.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
The service must execute on Windows XP/NT/2000, running Activesync 3.5 and above.
