We are leading a global film collaboration called 'Your Views' where we select people to submit a short film of their window view. The views are then edited into a film. So far we have over 700 views from over 170 countries. The view can be shot on a small camera, cell phone or something more professional and then the footage uploaded to the project.
We are looking for someone to shoot 20-30 seconds of a view from window anywhere in Lesotho. The view can be from a work place or home etc. There are some simple instructions to be found on this website [url removed, login to view] or to look at examples of previous films we made here [url removed, login to view] or here [url removed, login to view]
The view can be anything as seen from a window, for instance it could be a busy street with people, a backyard, a cityscape or landscape, any kind of view that your window looks out on to.
The idea is very simple; film a very short clip of either curtains or blinds opening to reveal the view from a window, preferably without showing hands or arms. The camera should be static and on either a tripod or resting on a surface.
The film is for an exhibition to be screened in Leverkusen, Germany in 2017. The person chosen will credited as a filmmaker and their name will be displayed on a wall with the location. You do not have to be a professional filmmaker to apply but know how to film on either your cell phone or camera with filming facility. The cell phone or camera should either be on a tripod or surface where it cannot move. Please do watch the links to see how the film works, if you do shoot on a cell phone it must be shot horizontally.
What I think is really amazing about this project is that it connects all countries and continents; it also challenges our pre-conceived ideas about what we think that country will look like.
We are a micro budget film as you can imagine there are 195 countries in the world, hence we can only pay the small fee offered. We will also send you a short film with your view on and other people’s views as a way of thank you.
If you have any questions please let me know.
