The camera phone will be used to send field information and a photograph to our dedicated server. The information (text) and photo will be used in a reporting application.
A typical procedure is as follows:
Start camera application (1 push)
Save photo or repeat step -- (to be used if photo was not clear)
If save then goto pre-defined fields to add text e.g. Location, Contact person, Telephone number, Comment
The application must then prompt for “Send now”
The content (photo and text) should then be sent to our server where the information will reside in our database for easy reporting. (FTP via gprs)
The sender should receive confirmation if successful.
If the file could not be sent due to “no signal present” then the file should be cached and sent automatically when a signal is detected.
The saved or cached information should be cleared when a successful transfer has occurred.
The following information is required with photograph:
Date time stamp
Location stamp (cell id)
imei or mobile number
Text from pre-defined fields
Our database would be set-up to receive the above fields for easy reporting. The photo may reside in a flat file. Your recommendation on the sever/ database / reporting/ mobile phone will be welcomed.
The text fields should be “user defined” prior to uploading the application to the mobile phone. This should also be done “over the air” if possible.
Additional information like a short audio/video clip may be added to the application at a later stage.
This is a Symbian project
Nokia series 60 phones will be used
