I have a Snap-On MT-1665 oscilloscope that the keypad is not working. I found a Company that can make one but I need an exact high tolerance file made. I need to have the physical one I have created into a file for [login to view URL] membrane keypad will serve as the main control panel on an industrial machine. The keypad only has to recognise basic inputs—numbers, a handful of symbols such as # and *, plus an Enter key—but it must be rugged enough for factory conditions and integrate cleanly with the machine’s existing controller board. I don't need a physical part made I just need somebody to create the file for me off of the pictures I can send or if you're local I can send you actual physical part. See photos of the physical part and requirements from the manufacturer. Here is what I’m expecting from you: • A schematic and PCB (or flexible-PCB) layout ready for fabrication, created in KiCad, Altium, Eagle or a comparable CAD tool. • Pin-out and connector recommendations so my in-house team can cable it straight to our control PCB. Once I receive the manufacturing files and documentation, I’ll run a quick design review. If everything matches the requirements above and passes DRC, the project is complete.

Hello, I can help convert your existing Snap-On MT-1665 membrane keypad into precise fabrication-ready design files based on high-resolution photos, measurements, or the physical sample itself. My focus would be on accurately recreating the keypad geometry, switch matrix layout, connector/pinout structure, and production documentation so a manufacturer can reproduce it with minimal ambiguity. For this type of reverse-engineering task, the critical priority is dimensional accuracy, trace mapping, contact pad spacing, layer structure, and connector compatibility with the original controller board. I can structure the design in professional CAD (such as KiCad or equivalent) with attention to tolerances, matrix organization, and manufacturable layout suitable for membrane or flex-PCB style implementation. I can also provide clear pinout recommendations and documentation so your internal team can directly interface the replacement keypad with the machine’s existing electronics. My approach is practical and detail-driven: replicate the original form factor as closely as possible, ensure DRC-clean outputs, and provide a fabrication package that is useful to your chosen keypad manufacturer rather than just a visual redraw. Hello, I am an electronics design engineer with extensive experience reverse-engineering membrane keypads and control panels for industrial equipment. I will create an exact, high‑tolerance manufacturing file for your Snap‑On MT‑1665 keypad, starting from the physical part (if you are local and can provide it) or from detailed photographs you send. Using Altium (or KiCad/Eagle, per your preference), I will generate a complete schematic showing the key matrix, required pull-up resistors, any shielding, and a flexible PCB layout that matches the original dimensions, contact pad placement, and trace routing. I will recommend a durable membrane construction (polyester with hard‑coat or embossed keys) and specify a compatible connector (e.g., FFC/FPC with a standard pin pitch, or a simple pin header) with full pin‑out documentation so your in‑house team can cable it directly to your control PCB. My deliverables include Gerber files, a bill of materials, and a detailed drawing of the keypad overlay layers. I will also run a thorough DRC to guarantee the file is fabrication‑ready. If you are within driving distance, I can quickly scan or measure the physical part to ensure exact trace spacing and button locations. Best regards.

Hi, Creating a high tolerance file for your industrial membrane keypad is crucial for ensuring its functionality in demanding factory conditions. One key consideration will be ensuring that the PCB layout is designed to minimize noise and interference, particularly given the environment of industrial machines. Using a tool like KiCad, I'll ensure that the layout is optimized for both the basic inputs you mentioned and the mechanical durability required. In past projects, I have developed comparable PCBs, focusing on precise dimensions and robust design standards to withstand harsh conditions. I've successfully created layouts that integrate seamlessly with existing controller boards, which should align well with your requirements. To begin, I'd focus on gathering precise measurements and specifications from the physical part or images you provide, ensuring I capture every detail accurately. After that, I would draft the schematic and layout, followed by recommendations for pin-outs and connectors that suit your control PCB design. Could you clarify the specific dimensions or tolerances you need for the keypad? Also, do you have any preferences for the type of connector to be used? Thank you, Andrew Rodgers

Can you provide exact physical dimensions, or should I derive them from photos plus reference measurements? Is this a membrane switch matrix, or does each key need an individual trace/pin? The biggest challenge here is not just drawing the membrane keypad, but recreating the physical keypad accurately enough so the manufacturer gets a high-tolerance file that matches the original Snap-On MT-1665 fit, connector position, key spacing, and factory-use durability. I can help convert your photos or physical sample into a fabrication-ready keypad design with schematic, flexible PCB/PCB layout, pinout, connector recommendation, and clean documentation. I have 6+ years of experience in embedded hardware, PCB design, board bring-up, and control-interface electronics, including connector-heavy layouts, MCU control panels, industrial IoT hardware, and rugged input interfaces. I’ve worked on projects where mechanical alignment, keypad/switch routing, signal reliability, and clean handoff to fabrication were critical, so I’ll focus on accuracy first before finalizing the CAD files. I can work in KiCad, Altium, or comparable tools and provide files that your manufacturer can review and produce. Contact me, if you are interested. Best regards. Patrick.

Hello, Thank you for sharing the details of your project regarding the Snap-On MT-1665 oscilloscope membrane keypad. I understand the importance of developing a precise, rugged, and factory-ready keypad design that integrates seamlessly with your current controller board. From your description, it’s clear that you need a high-tolerance, fabrication-ready file based closely on your existing keypad—either from detailed photos or by referencing the physical part. With over a decade of experience in industrial electronics design, including membrane keypads and robust HMI solutions, I am confident I can deliver an exacting schematic and PCB (or flexible PCB) layout using industry-standard tools such as KiCad or Altium. I have completed similar projects for industrial equipment where durability and pin-for-pin compatibility were critical, ensuring smooth integration and reliable performance in demanding environments. My approach will begin with a thorough analysis of the photos or physical keypad you provide, carefully recreating the button matrix and any required legends or cutouts. I will ensure all dimensions and contact placements meet your manufacturer’s tolerance requirements. The deliverables will include detailed manufacturing files (Gerbers, BOM, etc.) and clear pin-out documentation, along with connector recommendations tailored to your control PCB for straightforward assembly by your in-house team. Throughout the process, I will maintain clear communication and provide updates for your review, ensuring the final design meets your expectations and is ready for immediate handoff to your manufacturer. I look forward to helping you restore full functionality to your oscilloscope with a robust and precise replacement keypad. Best regards, Richard S.
