We're considering building canopies to support modules over the Criminal Courts Complex parking lot (check out the attached: our first shot at a layout and my notes expressing concerns about shading). The canopies will be about 12' high, with modules mounted atop the canopies, and cars parked below.
Our customer has granted us permission to remove any tree located within the boundaries of the parking lot. We cannot, however, remove any tree outside the parking lot boundaries.
The trick here will be to locate modules in areas of the parking lot that are not heavily shaded by the building or by the trees surrounding the parking lot. Obviously there's a lot of room in the parking lot located south of the building. It gets tricky to determine what portion of the north parking lot would be suitable for solar, since the building casts such a long shadow. The east and west parking lots, as well as the areas around the perimeter of the lot are also a bit tricky.
Of course, an insolation map of the parking lot would be *very* helpful. Can you create one? Do you need any add'l info from me to do so? I don't know the height of the trees surrounding the parking lot. Can you determine their height w/ online tools?
Do you think you can help me w/ this project???
Note: I don't need your help laying out the canopy mounted modules. I do need an insolation map of the parking lot, drawn to reflect our keeping all of the trees surrounding the lot, and removing all the trees w/in the lot.
