Project Description We are looking for an experienced Product Designer / Packaging Designer / Structural Packaging Designer to redesign the pod storage shown in the attached image and develop a manufacturing-ready cardboard version. The original product is made of plastic. We want to manufacture a similar product using thick, rigid cardboard / paperboard, with a flat-pack design so that it can be transported efficiently and assembled locally. The final design must be practical for real-world production, not just a visual/3D concept. Our Main Objective We need a cardboard pod storage that can be: • Manufactured from thick and rigid cardboard/paperboard • Supplied to us in a flat, unfolded condition • Easily transported and stored • Folded and assembled locally • Assembled with glue and/or suitable locking/interlocking elements • Strong enough to hold coffee pods securely during normal use • Produced without requiring a plastic injection mold We need a designer who can develop the complete structural design and technical drawings/dielines required for manufacturing. ________________________________________ Existing Product / Reference Please see the attached image. The image shows the general shape and concept of the pod storage we want to reproduce in cardboard. Each individual storage section should accommodate approximately 6–7 coffee pods. The designer may improve the internal structure and folding/locking system if necessary, as long as the final product remains similar in function and appearance. ________________________________________ Required Design 1. Individual Storage Module Each pod storage should be designed as an individual module. The top and bottom sections should be separate cardboard components. One complete storage module will consist of: • 1 × Top component • 1 × Bottom component We will assemble/glue the top and bottom components together locally. The design should therefore allow the two components to be manufactured separately and supplied flat. ________________________________________ 2. 2-Unit Version We need a version consisting of: 2 top modules + 2 bottom modules The two individual modules should be connected/assembled together to create one 2-unit pod storage set. The designer should develop a suitable: • Side connection • Joining system • Locking/interlocking mechanism • Glue flap system, if required The connection should be strong and practical while still allowing the product to be supplied flat. ________________________________________ 3. 4-Unit Version We also need a larger version consisting of: 4 top modules + 4 bottom modules The 4-unit version should function as one complete storage/merchandiser. The connection system should be designed specifically for the 4-unit configuration. ________________________________________ Reference Overall Dimensions The current reference dimensions for the 8-box merchandiser (4 top + 4 bottom) are approximately: 14.6" L × 17.8" W × 17.3" H Each individual storage section should accommodate approximately: 6–7 coffee pods The designer should determine the exact dimensions of the individual compartments and all structural elements based on the actual pod dimensions and the required final configuration. Important: The above dimensions are reference dimensions. The designer should optimize the internal and external dimensions to ensure proper strength, stability and manufacturability. ________________________________________ What We Need From the Designer This is the most important part of the project. We do not need only a 3D model or a nice-looking concept. We need a complete manufacturing-ready structural design that we can send directly to a cardboard manufacturer. The final deliverables should include: 1. Complete Technical Drawings Detailed technical drawings showing ALL dimensions, including: • Overall dimensions • Individual module dimensions • Internal compartment dimensions • Cardboard blank dimensions • Fold lines • Creasing lines • Cutting lines • Glue flaps • Locking tabs • Slots • Connecting elements • Joining points • Overlapping areas • Assembly points • Tolerances where necessary ________________________________________ 2. Flat Dieline / Cutting Pattern Provide a complete flat unfolded dieline for every cardboard component. The dieline must clearly indicate: • Cut lines • Crease/fold lines • Perforation lines if required • Glue areas • Folding direction • Locking tabs • Slots • Connection points The design should be suitable for CNC cutting / die-cutting / digital cutting. ________________________________________ 3. Cardboard Specification Please recommend the appropriate material, including: • Cardboard/paperboard type • Recommended thickness • Recommended GSM • Approximate stiffness/strength requirements • Whether corrugated cardboard, solid board, folding boxboard, greyboard or another material would be more suitable We want the thinnest/lightest material possible while still maintaining sufficient rigidity and strength. ________________________________________ 4. Assembly System The designer must determine the best way to assemble the product. For example: • Folding • Gluing • Locking tabs • Interlocking slots • Combination of glue + mechanical locking The final design should be easy to assemble manually. We will manufacture the flat components and assemble them locally in Azerbaijan. ________________________________________ 5. 3D Assembly Model Please provide a 3D model/render showing: • Fully assembled individual module • 2-unit configuration • 4-unit configuration The 3D model should clearly demonstrate how all parts fit together. ________________________________________ Required Files / Deliverables At the end of the project, we expect to receive: • Manufacturing-ready PDF technical drawings • 2D CAD files – preferably DXF/DWG • Editable vector files – AI / EPS / SVG if applicable • 3D CAD model – STEP/IGES or similar • 3D renders showing the assembled product • Complete flat dielines • Assembly instructions • Material/cardboard specification • Recommended cardboard thickness/GSM • Complete dimensions and tolerances • Cutting and creasing specifications All dimensions must be clearly marked and understandable by a manufacturer. ________________________________________ Important Requirements The designer should have experience in at least one or more of the following: • Structural packaging design • Cardboard product design • Paperboard engineering • Packaging dielines • POS/display stand design • Retail merchandiser design • Flat-pack product design • Die-cut cardboard structures • Product development for manufacturing Experience with cardboard retail displays / merchandisers / organizers would be a strong advantage. ________________________________________ Prototype / Manufacturing Consideration The design must be developed with actual manufacturing in mind. We want to avoid unnecessary complexity and expensive tooling. The ideal solution should be manufacturable using processes such as: Printing (if required) → die-cutting/CNC cutting → creasing → folding → gluing We also want the final product to be economical to manufacture and transport. ________________________________________ Important: Designer's Responsibility The designer should not simply copy the plastic structure. We expect the designer to engineer a suitable cardboard structure that achieves the same function. If certain elements of the original plastic design are not suitable for cardboard, you should propose a better structural solution. The final design should be: Strong + Stable + Easy to Assemble + Flat-Pack + Economical to Manufacture ________________________________________ Project Goal Our goal is to develop a commercially usable cardboard pod storage/merchandiser that we can manufacture in quantity and supply to our customers. Therefore, the final technical drawings must contain enough information for a cardboard manufacturer to produce the product without having to redesign the structure themselves. ________________________________________ When Applying, Please Include Please provide: 1. Examples of similar cardboard structural/product designs you have created. 2. Examples of flat-pack cardboard products or retail displays you have designed. 3. Which software you use (CAD / SolidWorks / AutoCAD / ArtiosCAD / Illustrator etc.). 4. Your estimated time to complete the design. 5. Your fixed project price. 6. Whether you can provide a prototype-ready design. 7. Please explain briefly how you would approach this project. Please apply only if you have experience creating technical/manufacturing drawings for physical products. The attached image is the reference product we want to convert from plastic to a manufacturing-ready cardboard design.

Hello, Your project needs a manufacturing-ready cardboard redesign of the pod storage, with flat-pack modules, dielines, and technical drawings that a cardboard supplier can produce directly. I specialize in structural packaging and retail display design, and I’ll engineer the top/bottom modules, 2-unit and 4-unit connections, and assembly logic so the final structure is practical, rigid, and economical. I’ll start by studying the pod dimensions and reference shape, then develop a cardboard-optimized structure using the right board grade, locking/glue details, and manufacturable tolerances. After that, I’ll prepare clean dielines, dimensioned drawings, 3D assembly views, and production files ready for CNC/die-cutting and fabrication. Hi, I can engineer this plastic pod organizer into a practical flat-pack cardboard product rather than simply copy its appearance. I’ll develop the individual top and bottom modules, then create dedicated joining systems for the 2-unit and 4-unit configurations, balancing rigidity, stability, manual assembly, material usage, and transport efficiency. Using SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD, and Illustrator, I can provide 3D assemblies, manufacturing drawings, complete DXF/DWG dielines, AI/EPS/SVG vectors, fold and cut specifications, glue areas, locking features, tolerances, BOM, material recommendations, assembly instructions, and prototype-ready files. I’ll optimize the structure around the actual coffee-pod dimensions and a suitable solid board or corrugated grade. Relevant product and fabrication samples can be shared privately. After reviewing the reference and dimensions, I can confirm a fixed price and realistic timeline; the design will be prepared for CNC/die-cut prototyping and local assembly in Azerbaijan. Can you provide the exact pod dimensions and reference image/file? Do you have a preferred board supplier or available thickness/GSM range? Let’s discuss your project now!

The key challenge here is not converting the plastic organizer into cardboard — it is redesigning the structure so it can actually be flat-packed, die-cut, folded, assembled, and manufactured reliably. I work in Fusion 360 on functional product design and manufacturing-ready CAD, and I can develop the pod storage around the real coffee-pod dimensions, cardboard thickness, folding allowances, locking tabs, glue areas and connection points rather than simply copying the plastic geometry. My approach would be: • Build and validate one individual module first • Develop the top/bottom flat-pack structure and joining method • Extend the approved system into the 2-unit and 4-unit versions • Produce detailed dimensions, dielines, DXF/DWG, STEP, assembly views and manufacturing notes I can also recommend a practical board thickness/material based on the final span and load requirements. I’d be happy to review the reference image and actual pod dimensions first and propose the structural direction before detailing the full system.

Hello, I reviewed your structural packaging requirements, and the key challenge is converting the plastic reference into a strong, economical flat-pack cardboard structure that is actually suitable for die-cutting, creasing, folding, and local assembly. I would engineer the individual top and bottom modules first, then develop practical joining/interlocking systems for the 2-unit and 4-unit configurations. I’ll account for pod dimensions, material thickness, tolerances, structural rigidity, glue areas, locking tabs, assembly sequence, and efficient flat-pack transportation. The final package would include complete dielines, DXF/DWG, editable vector files, 3D STEP model, technical drawings, material/GSM recommendations, assembly instructions, and renders showing all configurations. I would also keep the design manufacturer-ready rather than treating it as only a visual concept. I have experience with structural packaging, cardboard displays, flat-pack products, CAD development, and manufacturing documentation and can share relevant examples once we connect in chat. Also a quick question, can you provide the reference product dimensions and the exact coffee pod diameter/height, or should I establish the compartment geometry from the supplied product images? I’d be glad to take on your cardboard pod storage/merchandiser design and develop it as a genuinely manufacturing-ready flat-pack product—not just a 3D concept. I can engineer the individual top/bottom modules, 2-unit and 4-unit configurations, including folding geometry, locking/interlocking features, glue flaps, joining systems, tolerances, and structural reinforcement. I will optimize the design for rigid paperboard/cardboard, manual assembly, compact flat-pack transportation, and economical die-cutting/creasing. My deliverables will include fully dimensioned technical drawings, production-ready DXF/DWG dielines, editable vector files, 3D CAD (STEP/IGES), assembly renders, material/thickness/GSM recommendations, cutting/creasing specifications, and clear assembly instructions. My approach will be: analyze the reference and pod dimensions → engineer the cardboard structure → develop 3D prototypes → validate folding/assembly and strength → optimize for manufacturing → finalize production drawings and dielines. I can provide a prototype-ready design and revise it based on physical prototype feedback. Give me one opportunity to handle your project. I assure you that I will complete the work with full dedication, accuracy, and professionalism, delivering high-quality results on time.

Hello, The main risk is ensuring a thick, rigid cardboard structure that resists deformation while remaining flat-packable and locally assemblable for secure retention of 6–7 coffee pods. I have 8+ years designing structural packaging and retail displays for consumer goods, including multiple flat-pack paperboard dispensers and modular storage systems. Recent projects include a 3-unit modular tea sachet organizer and a 4-unit recyclable pod tray for a specialty coffee brand; both used die-cut dielines and interlocking tab systems to avoid adhesives and plastic parts. I will start by producing a parametric CAD model to validate material thickness and tab-fit, then generate flat dielines and an assembly 3D model for supplier review. - 1. Examples of similar cardboard structural/product designs I will provide 3 relevant project PDF case studies showing dielines and assembly photos upon your request. - 2. Examples of flat-pack cardboard products or retail displays Included in those PDFs are two flat-pack retail shelf-ready displays and one countertop modular organizer with snap-fit connections. - 3. Software used (CAD / SolidWorks / AutoCAD / ArtiosCAD / Illustrator) SolidWorks for 3D and parametric checks, ArtiosCAD for structural dielines, and Illustrator for print-ready artwork adjustments. - 4. Estimated time to complete the design 10 business days for complete structural designs, dielines, and a 3D assembly model after initial brief and material spec confirmation. - 5. Fixed project price USD 2,200 for final manufacturing-ready deliverables (dielines, technical drawings, cardboard specifications, assembly system, 3D assembly model). - 6. Ability to provide a prototype-ready design Yes. Deliverables are prototype-ready; I can also prepare a cut file for sample production if you want. - 7. Brief explanation of your approach to this project I will iterate a single-module parametric design to lock pod fit and stacking, then scale to 2-unit and 4-unit configurations with interlock geometry that maintains rigidity without adhesive. - Do you have target cardboard/caliper specs or preferred suppliers for sample runs? - Shall I prioritize tab snap-fit assembly or a simple folded joint for faster local assembly? Feel free to reach out if you want to talk through next steps. Christopher

I can deliver a manufacturing-ready cardboard structural design for the pod storage, not just a visual concept. My approach would be to engineer the product as a flat-pack paperboard structure, define the top and bottom modules separately, and create a practical connection system for the 2-unit and 4-unit versions using glue flaps and/or interlocking features where appropriate. I would produce complete technical drawings, dielines, assembly logic, material recommendations, and a 3D assembly model suitable for a cardboard manufacturer in Azerbaijan. The work would focus on manufacturability: clear cut/crease layers, tolerances, blank dimensions, and assembly-friendly geometry. I can also provide prototype-ready output so the design can be tested before production. Relevant experience would be in structural packaging, retail display engineering, and flat-pack cardboard product development, using professional CAD/vector workflows. If selected, I would start by reviewing the pod dimensions and the reference form, then develop a structurally efficient cardboard architecture that preserves the product’s function while optimizing strength, transportability, and ease of assembly. Final deliverables would be prepared for CNC/die-cut production and manufacturer handoff.
