Next.js Storefront Node.js Backend Development

You’ll be looking at the existing front-end codebase, defining the API contracts it expects, and then building a clean Node.js backend that connects to MongoDB. Core features to implement are user authentication (JWT or similar, with refresh-token flow) and order processing that can handle cart submission through to final confirmation. All routes should return clear JSON responses, and any errors must follow a consistent format so the React hooks I’ve written can surface them gracefully. While product management endpoints might come later, they’re out of scope for this phase, so the focus is tight: auth and orders. I lean toward Express with Mongoose, but if you can justify another lightweight framework or an ODM alternative, I’m open to it as long as the final result deploys easily on a standard Node hosting service.
