9:16 and 16:9 aren't the same edit resized. Screen recordings become unreadable when cropped vertical, and talking-head framing that works horizontally looks distant and empty when it's squeezed into a phone. So the two versions get built as separate cuts, sharing the same script and pacing but framed differently. Vertical keeps the speaker closer and the screen content in a stacked layout. Horizontal gives both room to breathe side by side. Same content, two compositions, and the difference shows immediately on a phone. The second thing. At 60 to 90 seconds with lessons, the risk is density, not length. Every screen recording, every slide, and every talking-head clip all want to be in the cut. What actually keeps a viewer is deciding which two points matter most, then holding on each one long enough to land. Cutting for pace means cutting content, not just trimming pauses. On audio: YouTube normalises to -14 LUFS, but TikTok and Instagram push louder. If the same files go to all three, the master that passes broadcast checks will sound quiet on short form. Slight export variation per platform fixes it.
