I need a developer to write a clean and intuitive iPhone application to help in our warehouse inventory management efforts. The application should capture images from an iPhone or iPad camera (or select the image from album), edit the image (brightness, contrast, size and crop), categorize the image, add some information such as product number, location, description and condition, store the image and its data locally and be able to later synchronize all products with an existing inventory database.
Thanks to all providers for your bids. Here some additional information for better understanding of project requirements. We need to be able to use mobile devices to track our plant floor products. There is already a web based system I developed myself using bar code scanners. Your application will need to interface with my database to add additional information and one or more pictures per product. Simple. We can work together on the database synchronization part. I can provide you with an interface design spec, so that you can test with your own database if you like. I envision a product Id-Timestamp key value pair approach over web services in order get the list of current products from the database, and trigger the sync action on the mobile application only for those products that were modified. Similar design for commits from the mobile, you invoke a webservice for insert, update and delete actions passing the necessary information and my db will send you back a timestamp as confirm, or some error number you will handle. Other suggestions are welcome. The application of course will need a simple, intuitive navigation function to list, filter and search products by say, number. Nothing too fancy just helpful for the users to find products. We might need to discuss other details over emails or the phone, but this is pretty much the scope of the project. Also, I would like to include further elements to the application in the future, so keep in mind these terms: "scalability" and "loosely coupled". Some of the features I would like to include is to migrate our bar code scanners to the iPhone camera itself, maybe an image recognition feature. But first things first. So send me your offers and demos. I want to get this going soon. Also, and just in case, NO third party artifacts please :), C or other non-objective C programming is a NO. I would like everything in objective C and under iPhone SDK. If you need foreign C libraries for any specific reason we can discuss it, but mostly I would prefer not to use them.
Thank you and I hope to work with you soon
Guys, regarding the database interface:
I will deliver an interface data specification (IDS) prior to start development. With this IDS the provider should be able to create a test RESTful API that won't need to do any database related functions, just return a list of objects from memory and KVPs to test the application.
Meanwhile I will be working on the "real" API based on the same IDS version you have.
When the integration phase comes, we should be able to connect the iPhone app with the live database and expect good results with minimum changes.
Communication will be the key, if we stay on the same page with the IDS version, I don't expect any major issues during integration.
Hello everyone. Some points that were not made clear in the initial description:
Yes, you will need to provide the source code for the application. Although I'm not looking to expand the application's functionality myself, you as a developer understand that I need to be able to touch the code to tweak things, fix bugs and stuff like that once the project has finalized.
To expand the application's functionality, in the future I will likely create another project for you to bid or, if we had a good experience working together, work with you directly.
For revision control, I prefer using subversion because I am familiar with it, but I am open to any other solution such as GIT.
You don't need to upload the various iterations to Apple Store, but it will be more convenient for me if you do :). Otherwise I have an Apple developer license, so I could get the last version from repository, compile and upload.
Yes of course, there will be some security layer in the interface with the database. I will be using WCF and I will handle that on my side, you only need to provide the credentials to authenticate. This will be described in the interface design spec.
I'm working on the interface now. I thought the bidding process would be much slower so I kinda procrastinated on that. Hopefully I'll catch up soon. Meanwhile, people are still bidding and I'm reviewing some demos. I hope to give you an answer at the end of the bidding process in a week!
Have a great day and thank you for taking the time to inquire about my project.
