I want a good pedometer algorithm for an iOs project I'm working on. The deliverables will be:
- a neatly segmented core motion class/set of classes with commented code that explains how it works
- a view that outputs the onset of a new 'step' as well as the current amount of 'steps per second'.... simple changing the background color of the view + outputting the avg steps per second would suffice.
Note: a 'step' is an arbitrary term to describe the detection of the onset of major motion on the device - the goal is to calibrate the variables as the device moves detecting a pattern in motion and discerning whether a disturbance in the accelerometer represents a step or not. This algorithm needs to be variable/dynamic - i.e. a set might be a heavy jogging footstep or simple the change in x/y/z orientation brought about by completing a squat/bicep curl.
I understand the complexity of the task and for that reason I'm asking only for developers who have previously worked with core motion or had experience creating this kind of app. If the work done on this project is up to standard I would hope to establish a long working relationship for other/similar projects.
