I need an experienced mechatronics/prototyping engineer to design, build, test and ship a compact electromechanical proof-of-concept involving single-sheet paper handling. The prototype will use small motorised rollers and guides to move individual paper sheets through a controlled path, with sensors and a camera/controller for basic detection and imaging. Motor-operated gates will control the direction and movement of the sheet. This is an early demonstration prototype, not a production-ready commercial product. Simple, inexpensive, off-the-shelf components and 3D-printed parts are preferred. Required capabilities: mechanical/CAD design, paper-feed/roller mechanisms, motors and sensors, Arduino/ESP32/Raspberry Pi or similar embedded control, camera integration, 3D printing/fabrication, assembly, testing and troubleshooting. I do not currently own the components, so the engineer should provide a proposed BOM with component links and prices before anything is purchased. The successful freelancer must be able to physically manufacture, assemble and test the prototype and ship the completed working unit to the UK, not simply provide drawings or software. Final deliverables should include the working prototype, source code, wiring diagram, BOM, editable CAD files, STEP/STL files and a demonstration video. Please quote labour, components, fabrication and shipping separately, and show examples of physical electromechanical prototypes you have personally built. This is a lean proof-of-concept project, so cost-effective engineering is important. The wider prototype programme is being developed in stages with an overall target of approximately £500–£1,000.

Hi, I am an embedded systems and mechatronics engineer with over 16 years of experience developing physical electromechanical prototypes, embedded controls, custom mechanisms and consumer-grade products from concept through fabrication and testing. I can take full responsibility for the working prototype—not only CAD or firmware—including the roller/feed mechanism, motorised gates, sensors, camera/controller integration, 3D-printed parts, wiring, assembly, troubleshooting, demonstration video and shipment to the UK. I will first submit a costed BOM with purchase links for approval, then build and test the mechanism using economical off-the-shelf parts. Editable CAD, STEP/STL files, source code, wiring diagram and final BOM will be included. My initial £750 estimate is: labour £480, components £120, fabrication £70 and UK shipping allowance £80. These figures can be refined before purchasing once the sheet size, required path and imaging objective are confirmed; I am flexible within the wider programme budget. I have personally built comparable motorised, sensor-based prototypes. Those projects cannot be shared publicly due to confidentiality, but suitable examples can be shown privately. What paper sizes/weights must it handle, and how many gate-controlled paths are required? Please contact me to discuss details.

I can help turn this single-sheet handling concept into a practical, cost-controlled proof of concept. I would begin with a proposed BOM containing component links, prices, and alternatives for the rollers, motors, sensors, controller, camera, power supply, and fabrication materials before purchase. The design would focus on reliable sheet separation, guided transport, and motor-operated routing gates using straightforward mechanical/CAD construction and readily available parts. I can develop the control architecture, PCB Layout or prototype wiring as appropriate, integrate the camera and sensors, then assemble, test, and troubleshoot the complete unit. Electronics and Engineering decisions would be documented through the wiring diagram, source code, editable CAD, STEP/STL exports, and demonstration video. Testing would specifically cover single-sheet detection, jams, alignment, gate timing, repeatability, and safe recovery. I would also separate labour, components, fabrication, and shipping costs, with the UK shipment planned around the final tested assembly. Relevant experience with physical prototypes, paper-feed mechanisms, embedded control, and fabrication can be demonstrated with examples before proceeding. What paper sizes, thickness range, target feed speed, and acceptable single-sheet detection accuracy should the prototype support? I would aim to keep the architecture modular so later stages can improve speed or reliability without discarding the initial protot

Hello there, This is not an AI bid; this is a self response. Your single-sheet paper-handling proof of concept needs more than CAD or code, it needs a physically assembled, tested, and shippable electromechanical unit. I can help shape the mechanism around compact rollers, guides, motorized gates, sensing, and camera-based detection while keeping the BOM practical and cost-effective. I will document the wiring, editable CAD, STEP/STL files, source code, testing results, and demonstration video, with component, fabrication, labour, and shipping costs clearly separated. Product Design, Print, and Design considerations will guide the prototype’s usability and physical presentation. Once the BOM is approved, I can establish a staged build and validation plan for delivery to the UK. Would you prefer the first prototype to prioritize reliable sheet transport, camera imaging, or bidirectional gate control within the £500–£1,000 target? Best regards, Sahil

This is a strong fit, and I’d start with the highest-risk workflow first. For a Prototype Smart Paper-Handling Device, the hard part is balancing sensor scanning accuracy, battery life, Bluetooth/SIM fallback, and OTA-ready embedded reliability. My approach would be to validate the sensor matrix and power budget first, then design the acquisition PCB, embedded firmware, connectivity fallback, and OTA/admin controls in staged prototypes. Quick question: What is already available for Prototype Smart Paper-Handling Device: a working codebase, designs, data, or only the brief? Also, which one acceptance test would make you confident the first milestone is on the right track? Best, Dr. Syafiq

The main risk is reliably feeding single sheets of paper past gates; this requires precise roller speed and gate timing. I will design the mechanism in Fusion 360, using small DC motors with encoders, 3D print the chassis and guides, and integrate sensors with an ESP32 for control and camera interfacing, delivering a functional prototype that moves single sheets. What motor drivers will you use for the small DC motors? I need the final dimensions of the paper sheets you will be handling. My rating is 5.0 across 10 reviews on here, and I am a Preferred Freelancer.
