In today’s technological life for some applications like parking systems, mapping systems, environmental change detections etc recognizing or detecting the empty space is very important aspect. The objective of this project is to recognize the empty space detection in images by using advanced digital image processing techniques. Instead of using several sensors, we aimed to provide a simple software application which greatly reduces the establishing and maintenance cost. In this project we proposed an advanced image processing application to detect the empty space regions in images. Here we proposed to combine two advanced image processing techniques named as “Edge detection Technique” and “Active contour model”. Edge detection is designed for recognizing the empty space and Active contour is proposed for detecting the recognized empty space. Our project applications include Geographical mapping, Parking arrangements, War field adjustments etc.
