Magento 2 Multistore Settings: .htaccess Issues on Server

We have added 4 new store views to our Magento 2.2.1 installation but they are not working properly like the existing store views even though we copied the settings from existing and changed them where necessary.
Need someone with experience with multi-store settings because an existing Freelancer with a well established account here cannot fix it. So it's not basic magento multi store settings. And you cannot touch the settings for existing stores because that might break the existing store views.
You just need to apply same settings to new store views.
