Protect pdf folder (Joomla)

I need a Joomla plugin that will allow me to designate a protected address in the back end. Any time a link to that folder and/or sub-folder is attempted, the plugin will verify that the user is signed in. If the user is not signed in, deny access and display a pop-up message that reads "This document is protected under NDA. Please sign-in and/or create an account to access."
Must operate in Joomla 1.5 and 1.6.
