I need a simple Mootools image slideshow for a Joomla site. It needs to be customised a little differently from most existing components/apps I've found so far.
Because my business operates with a progressive enhancement methodology*, the site displays a non-JS image which happens to be the first slide of the slieshow. The default behaviour of the Forward button takes users to a category page listing all of the slides; the Back button defaults to a disabled state. Other slides are 'saved' to the page as a set of DL elements. I have a code sample available for the hired worker to review; these instructions will make more sense then...
So, the first customisation is that Mootools needs to replace the default behaviour of the Forward and Back buttons with the functionality that controls the slideshow.
The script will then collate the data for the slideshow from the data in the default/shown image and the 'saved' slides in the DL list.
Each slide will link to its own page for users to leave comments, etc.
There is no need for autoplay/timed slides.
Slides will have a similar width (ie. don't assume a fixed width), and will have a variety of heights. Do not give the slideshow a fixed height. Detect the image's height and slide the controls down the page accordingly.
Slides can animate - I normally animate transitions over [url removed, login to view] with a slight easing and no bounceback. Please leave a constant value at the top of the script for me to change.
I would appreciate being able to swap transitions too; either sliding right-left or a fade. If you build this functionality, please leave a comment in the script indicating which values are valid.
No set number of slides, but likely to be ~10.
Preloading would be good. Put a relative URI in the script and I'll sort out the image, etc.
There will be a final slide that points users to the category list of images; don't loop the slides back to the start. Add a class of 'disabled' to the Forward button at the end of the slideshow.
Deliverable is a single page of Mootools script. Do not add unnecessary CSS styles such as borders, padding, margins, or color. Do not link to external files.
I keep Joomla sites up to date with the latest version, so you can reference the most recent Mootools releases.
