We currently use a custom ajax w/ .asp vb point of sale entry system.
The current model works fine but has some bad quirks. This is a project to simplify the design and make it work better.
Basically the way it works now is the user enters a product ID in the form and tabs causing the db (mysql) to be queried. This returns the inventory sizes and pricing to the same form line. It now has data that can be selected from the database. There are some pricing rules that we apply as well but that is all written in asp and can stay the same. The current system allows you to enter multiple lines before submitting the form to add it to the cart. I want to scrap that design and just have 1 entry form so each item would be added to the cart as they are wrung up.
Basically, I want the user to enter a Product ID - have the system get the data from the db and populate the form with the pricing rules. Then the user would add that to the cart and I would like the curser to be ready to enter the next product ID with the form empty. The add to cart would submit the form so that would erase the form.
I need to get this done quickly. I can give the winner the current files which should contain all of the mysql connection string and other data to get it done.
My goal is to make the Point of System design error proof.
