We need to password protect our Mac OSX application database. Currently we are using sqlite3 which comes with Mac OSX. We are using sqlite’s C API so I would like to stay with a sqlite3 compatible API.
One way to do this is to recompile sqlite with encryption as suggested in this step-by-step article: [url removed, login to view]
The final product will be a MacOSX project with all source code as well as a library suitable for linking against.
You will also provide a sample project containing sample code opening a password protected sqlite database. The sample project will only contain the required libraries you created, not all the source code for sqlite, etc.
The product should also include a replacement sqlite command line utility.
The library should work with other products (for instance: [url removed, login to view]) with encryption support (meaning: libraries that implement the sqlite3_key() and sqlite3_rekey() API).
Or if you have a better suggestion to solve the problem, I would like to hear about it.
