Industrial Product Designer Needed (Baby Product) I’m developing a premium infant support product and am looking for an experienced product designer who understands how to take a concept and turn it into something that can actually be prototyped and manufactured. This is not a rendering project. I’m looking for someone who thinks through geometry, materials, manufacturability, and iteration. To be considered, please answer the following: 1. Tell me about a physical product you’ve designed that ultimately went into production. 2. What CAD software do you use? 3. If you were designing a foam-based ergonomic product, would you model it as one solid body or multiple components? Why? 4. How do you typically prepare models for prototyping and eventual manufacturing? 5. What deliverables do you normally provide to clients? Please do not simply tell me you can do the work. I’m more interested in your process and experience than generic proposals

Hi, I focus on designing real, manufacturable products, not just visuals. My workflow centers on geometry logic, material behavior, and how the product will actually be produced and iterated. 1. Physical product that went into production I worked on the design development of a consumer household product that required ergonomic form development and plastic injection molding. The project involved concept refinement, CAD modeling, internal structure optimization, and preparing manufacturing-ready files for prototyping and tooling. The product moved through multiple prototype stages before final tooling, which required tight control over wall thickness, draft angles, and assembly tolerances. 2. CAD software My primary tools are SolidWorks and Fusion 360 for parametric modeling and manufacturable geometry. For more complex surface reconstruction or organic forms I also use Geomagic Design X and surface modeling workflows. 3. Modeling a foam-based ergonomic product Usually multiple components, even if the final product appears as one piece. Separating components allows control over: • Different foam densities or materials • Internal structural inserts or reinforcement • Fabric or outer covers • Manufacturing methods (foam molding, CNC foam cutting, upholstery) This also makes iteration easier when adjusting ergonomic contours or structural zones without rebuilding the entire model. 4. Preparing models for prototyping and manufacturing My process typically includes: • Parametric CAD modeling with controlled dimensions • Checking manufacturability (draft angles, parting lines, thickness) • Creating simplified prototype geometry for 3D printing or CNC foam cutting • Iterating based on prototype feedback • Preparing final manufacturing geometry and tolerance strategy depending on the process (molding, machining, or soft goods assembly) 5. Typical deliverables • Native CAD files (SolidWorks / Fusion) • STEP or Parasolid files for manufacturing • STL files for rapid prototyping • Dimensioned drawings when needed • Optional renders or assembly visuals for communication with manufacturers You can check my profile for examples of product modeling and manufacturing-oriented CAD work. Best regards.

Hello, I have experience developing consumer products from concept to manufacturing, including ergonomic support products, cushions, and foam-based designs. Several projects progressed through prototyping, supplier reviews, and production-ready engineering documentation. I use SolidWorks and Fusion 360. For foam-based products, I usually model multiple components rather than a single body because foam, covers, inserts, and manufacturing processes often require separate control and easier revisions. My process starts with ergonomics and manufacturability, followed by prototype-ready CAD, iterative refinement, and production preparation. Deliverables typically include native CAD files, STEP, STL, engineering drawings, sections, and renderings suitable for prototyping and manufacturing. Best regards.

Hello, I've reviewed your project and appreciate that you're focused on real product development rather than just visuals. My approach is centered around manufacturability, prototyping, material selection, and iterative refinement from the start. I've worked on consumer products that progressed through prototype validation and manufacturing preparation, including packaging, household products, and molded components. I primarily use SolidWorks and Fusion 360 depending on the product requirements. For a foam-based ergonomic product, I would first evaluate manufacturing method and assembly requirements before deciding between a single body or multiple components, as that decision directly affects tooling, comfort, cost, and scalability. My typical deliverables include editable CAD files, STEP/STL exports, manufacturing-ready models, technical drawings, prototype files, and production recommendations. I can also share relevant examples once we connect in chat. Also a quick question, is your current concept intended for foam molding, CNC-cut foam, or layered foam construction? Best Regards, Muskan

Hello, I am Remus Feldman industrial designer with over 10 years experience in consumer and medical design. 1. I have designed medical products like inhalatory devices and headphones that whent in production. 2. I am using Solidworks for CAD Modeling. 3. For a foam based product I would model the foam part as one solid volume, and other parts separatly. When 3D modeling it is a good idea to model everything as close as possible to reality. When designing headphone earcups I designed the foam part as one solid part, it whent like that in production. 4. If the prototype needs to have moving parts then these 3D models are sent separtly to prototyping. If the prototype is just for basic proof of concept then the 3D models are sent just as one volume to prototyping. 3D models are sent as stl. for 3D printing, and step. for manufactring (according to manufacturer specifications like draft angles and wallthickness). 5. Clients recive all files like: Sketches, 3D models, 3D Renders, Marketing ready renders, DFM Files and also the avalibility for further collaboration after the project is over. If you like my offer, experience and if you wish to see more samples or have any questions just let me know. Hope hearing from you, Remus Feldman
