I'm trying to build a kiosk that will allow visitors to explore a topic by pressing buttons. Here's how I would like it to work:
On the outside of the kiosk there will be four small buttons, each with a small one line display screen above it. Each button selects the topic. Inside the kiosk there will be four very large, strong buttons (each about eight to ten inches wide). Above each button should be a small one line display. These change depending on the topic that the visitor selected before entering.
When one of the large buttons is pressed, the devices inside the kiosk should be activated. The devices include one large screen, two smaller screens, a speaker, and lights. For instance, a movie could start playing on the large screen, and an image or text could appear on the others screens, an audio file could be played, and lights could be changed – all simultaneously, depending on what has been programmed for that button.
You can see how the topics look, including sample button fields, by going to [url removed, login to view] I am using the program Expression Engine to enter content. This makes it easy to program buttons with content for any of the fields. Somehow we'll need to download the content of each topic into the kiosk so that it is available when the buttons are pressed.
Please let me know your thoughts about this projects, and any questions you have. I am ready to begin immediately.
