Remember when you were little and had night terrors, wouldn't go to sleep and ended up trying to lodge yourself in your parents' bed? The character I've imagined will be a kid's best buddy at night and, now, I look to a professional to help bring him/her to life through storybook images. From an artist perspective, a good match here is a person with a passion for children's art and books...someone who can take an idea/vision and, through pictures, bring life to a character. The book has been written and will be 15-20 pages, with images on each page. The pictures and character should evoke a feeling of wonder and make kids' eyes light up when they see each page. From an illustration standpoint, the character(s) and backgrounds should be simple, clean and easy to understand since the target age for readers is 18 months-5 years old. Basically, on each page, the main character should be the star. (some books that showcase the type of illustrations I like: "Oh the Wonderful Things you will be", "Giraffes can't dance", "Little Blue Truck"). Lastly, an artist who has experience with helping to create models for children's toys would be a plus - as I may look to turn the main character into a physical stuffed character. I can provide more information later, as necessary.
Thank you for considering!
