I need a Graphic Designer with a decent amount of WordPress experience (ideally with StudioPress Genesis).
I'm a WordPress developer/consultant with an emphasis on the coding side. My regular front-end designer is unavailable for this project so I'm looking for some help from a solo freelancer - no outsourcing companies please - who is strong on the graphics side of the equation. If you're a developer who does a bit of design, this is not for you. If you're a designer who does a bit of development, this IS for you.
This particular project is a musician's website. It's currently using the (non-responsive) Rockwell WordPress theme and has a WooCommerce store with physical goods - CDs and a book - and MP3 downloads. I have a staging server with a copy of the site where we'll do all the work.
The project spec here is pretty basic to start out with:
1) You help me choosing a responsive theme/child theme that supports WooCommerce and, importantly, supports a very visual homepage - we have a very strong photograph to use here. Your theme recommendation or creation is a crucial part of what I'm looking for in this project. Ideally I'd be using something like a StudioPress Genesis child theme, I'd prefer something that robust and performant, in contrast to many of the beautiful but slow behemoths on ThemeForest.
2) You tweak the design, CSS images etc (we'll be aiming to match the new album cover art which is quite minimalist - photo with text in GreatLakesNF font (check it out on FontSquirrel)). These are mostly homepage design tweaks, other pages should need very little work as it's quite a minimalist site. (Biggest issue will be setting up [url removed, login to view] as a web font for headings, I will do this, but you pick the colour we use).
3) We both test to ensure the design is working as intended on iPhone, android and desktop.
My estimate is that this project should take 3-6 hours of your time, depending on your experience and speed of work. I've built a lot of WordPress sites so I'm fairly confident in this estimate, I'm not a hopeful but naive startup business owner posting here.
Details about your WordPress theme framework preferences would be really useful in helping me chose your bid.
Don't pad the estimate, give me an estimate for just the work I've listed above. The more of the project you can do, the better, but we can expand the project scope after. If you want take the whole thing off my hands and provide a completed ready to test site, super. Alternatively I'm happy to get more hands-on if it means working with a seriously talented designer.
I'm set up as a registered company (LTD, similar to a US LLC) and have been in business since 2007. I have a subcontractor agreement that I need you to agree to. The TL;DR version is that (A) all work I pay you to do is considered "work for hire" so I get the copyright and can do anything I want with that including passing it to the end client, and that (B) you don't publish details of the jobs anywhere without permission and (C) you don't contact the client directly without permission. There are some other legal jargon stuff that lawyers insist on so I'll send you the full version when you contact me. (I got seriously burned on the copyright issue on a project years ago so no agreement to this document is a deal-breaker, sorry).
