We're working on a project to create an online classifieds portal, with an engaging and refined user interface. The interface will elegantly display thumbnails (similar to eBay or YouTube), and will allow users to sort through the classifieds by category, price, location, etc.
We need an experienced UI/frontend designer for UI development. We have mock-ups of the UI and are looking for professional help to polish and implement! The ideal candidate will have developed frontends for similar "search & post" sites, with standard search and post pages, category-based indexed (hierarchical) sub-pages, accounts support (like eBay), location-based posting, etc. The UI MUST also support interfacing with our Ruby on Rails backend. Thus we expect the ideal candidate to be an expert in the regular UI design tools -- HTML, CSS, AJAX, JQuery, etc. -- AND proficient in Ruby on Rails 3.0 development. A flair for graphic design and experience with Photoshop is a BIG PLUS. At the end of the day we're looking to have a simple yet very cool site!
An ideal candidate will have some existing Ruby on Rails code base to leverage for backend development. The project price could be higher or lower depending upon the details of implementation.
