Thank you for your interest in our job post. At the present time we have a few spots open on our Contemporary Gay Romance writing teams.
We are a small Publishing Company founded in Spring 2015. We have strong presences in the LGBT Romance and Cozy Mystery genres. To date we have published over 200 books, which combined have been read more than 1,000,000 times. We can get your story in front of thousands of gay romance fans.
We are looking to hire talented experienced authors that are interested in an ongoing relationship with us. Writers who produce stories that our readers enjoy will be invited to work with us on an ongoing basis, work that you can consistently count on having.
We do not provide plot outlines. You will have lots of creative freedom in regard to content, as long as our clear concise guidelines are followed. If needed, we also include additional resources to help guide you and a support team to assist. We welcome you to share any concerns, issues or suggestions with us.
We are looking for romance, not smut. The stories must however have some steamy scenes that are organic and help serve the romance plot. You will not have to write things you are uncomfortable with from a personal, moral or professional standpoint. Also, we will not require you to write tropes you are uncomfortable with. Our guidelines clearly spell out what is appropriate and what isn’t, and we’re fairly vanilla.
Most of our romance novels and novella projects are in the 30,000 to 80,000 word range. We have realistic time frames, empathy for the creative vision and the time it takes to create it. The typical workload of the writers we work with is 10,000 words a week. We also understand that good pacing can’t be dictated by word count, so typically assign a word range rather than a hard word count to meet.
Our starting rate with new writers is $100 per 10,000 Words. Opportunity to grow with raises on future projects for exceptional writers. We always put full payment in escrow and we pay on time when we say we will.
When working with new writers we start the off with a smaller initial project to see if they are a good fit. The project length you are applying for today is a short story, length approximately 10,000+ words. The story also needs an approximately 200+ word book blurb (sales copy). Total length approx. 10,200 and the budget is $102.00.
Constructive feedback from our editors will be shared to help you hone your craft and ensure better future projects. If revisions are needed, the editors will give clear guidance on issues. As well you’ll have our support team to help with any questions or concerns. Total rewrites are not required.
• Candidate MUST have a Native English Speaker/Writer level with excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
• Candidate must be comfortable writing stories of at least 30,000 words in length.
• Writing teams or agencies need not apply, individuals only please.
• We are looking for experienced romance fiction writers, you should be familiar with character and story arcs for example.
• We want writers who share our desire to make great stories that the readers will love, not just something thrown together.
As noted on the job title, this work required is ghostwriting. This means that you will not retain any right to the finished products and you will not be credited as the author. We reserve the right to use the material in any form.
We have zero tolerance for plagiarism. All submitted stories are run through multiple plagiarism checkers (plagscan, copyscape, etc). Yes, we do thoroughly check and yes will report plagiarized work. Legal action may also be taken by us and/or rights holders.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit a proposal along with at least two samples of your writing that you feel showcase *your best* fiction work (preferably M/M romance, but any romance will suffice).
