I have experimental data for a three-point cyclic bending test on an aluminium rectangular specimen that contains a surface crack. My goal is to reproduce the test numerically in SMART ANSYS and confirm that the model predicts the observed crack-growth behaviour. Scope of work • Build or refine a 3-D model of the specimen (aluminium, rectangular cross-section) with an initial surface crack and fixed support on one end, then apply the three-point bending load cycle. • Run a fatigue crack-growth analysis, extracting all key results: – crack length a versus number of cycles N – stress-intensity range ΔK – fatigue life Nf – growth rate da/dN – a/N curve and (da/dN)–ΔK curve • Tune mesh, contact, and fracture mechanics settings so that the numerical curves match the experimental trends. • Deliver a brief report explaining modelling choices, convergence checks, and correlation with the lab data, plus the ANSYS Workbench project files so I can reproduce everything. Acceptance criteria The numerical curves should overlay the experimental ones with reasonable engineering accuracy; any discrepancies need to be explained.
