Moving off Voila and ipywidgets to FastAPI is the right call — notebook UIs hit a ceiling fast, and finance-grade means dense information that stays readable, not decoration. How I would approach it: - Keep your Python 3.10 trading logic exactly where it is. The FastAPI layer wraps it; the strategy code should not be touched by a UI project, and I would treat that as a hard boundary. - Server-rendered pages with targeted live updates over WebSocket for the values that actually move, rather than a full single-page-app rebuild. Faster to deliver, far less to maintain, and it fits the way a trading dashboard is used. - Layout designed for density: numbers aligned and monospaced, colour used only to carry meaning, and the critical figures readable at a glance without hunting. - Charts that stay responsive with real data volumes, not just the demo set. Proof: FastAPI with Python is my daily production stack — multiple APIs in commercial use — and I build the frontends too, so there is no handoff gap between the API and the interface consuming it. Questions: how much of the ipywidgets interface should carry over as-is, and is this for you alone or for multiple users?
