Where You will use the Internet to conduct your research. Personal interviews are acceptable but at least one source must be the Internet. Suggested sources include (Links will open in a new window): Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, WISCareers, Wisconsin's WORKnet, and Career One Stop. If you are interested in researching your personality traits and how they match up with various career options, try the Human Metrics site.
Why This project is your opportunity to explore a career field or discipline of your interest while demonstrating the skills you've gained in completing this course.
How You will be creating and citing a research paper in Word document format and creating a presentation summarizing the most compelling points from your research in PowerPoint format. You are also required to integrate a table or chart, created using Excel, into your paper and/or presentation. You will be uploading the .docx, .pptx, and .xlsx files into the Module 6 Assignment dropbox.
Now that you know the who, what, when, where, why, and how, here is the grading rubric. For the best results, use it as a checklist as you complete the project.
Research and write a paper
Thoroughly researched, about 2 pages, approximately 700 words.
Factual. Based on at least 2 bona-fide and credible sources. At least one from the Internet.
Designed and written according professional communication concepts learned in the workbook. Perfect spelling, grammar, punctuation, case, etc.
Documented in MLA format. In-text citations, images cited, and separate references page within the report document.
Title page and page numbers on all but the title page.
Professional use of at least 1 graphic object.
Professionally designed table or chart created in Excel. Professionally placed in Word document. Upload the Excel file with your other files.
Create a Presentation of your research
About 5 slides that summarize the important points from the research paper
Follows design and presentation guidelines from the workbook. Perfect spelling, grammar, case, punctuation, etc.
A title slide with title and your name
Professional and consistent design template
Consistent and subtle transitions between all slides
Graphic objects can be transferred from the research paper.
At least one graphic object with a subtle animation applied
Notes entered into the notes pane. (Can be transferred from research paper)
