I have a 20-slide deck that needs to pull fresh figures from an accompanying Excel workbook. The file currently contains a mix of hard-typed numbers and legacy design elements, but I’m ready to streamline everything: • Data to link: charts, graphs and several tabular ranges that sit in the Excel file now. • Behaviour: once the macro is run, the slides should refresh quietly with static snapshots of the newest numbers—no live embedded OLE objects to bloat the file. • Look & feel: the simpler the better. I’m happy to replace multiple patched-in tables with one clean table object and generally strip away any unnecessary styling. I’m most comfortable if the connection is “push”-based through VBA (PowerPoint VBA or Excel controlling PowerPoint—whichever is cleaner), yet I’m open to clever alternatives that still avoid manual copy-paste. Deliverables 1. A cleaned-up PPTX where every chart and table is fed by your VBA routine. 2. The macro code, clearly commented so I can tweak source paths later. 3. A brief text walkthrough of how to trigger the update. solution MUST be portable, ie we can run this ppt publish from excel regradless of the folder it sits in. ie we cant have a rigid link path in teh ppt we cant edit at runtime. If you have experience scripting this kind of Excel-to-PowerPoint automation and a good eye for tidy layouts, I’d love to see how you’d tackle it. fyi, This project will take me approx 20 hours. 2-3 hours design, 1 day linking tables and charts, and then allow 1 day to refine, debug etc.

Hi, This is exactly the type of Excel-to-PowerPoint automation I build. I understand the key requirement is a fully portable, push-based solution where Excel generates and refreshes PowerPoint content without relying on fixed file paths, embedded OLE objects, or manual copy/paste. My approach would be: • Clean and simplify the existing 20-slide deck. • Build a VBA-driven publishing routine from Excel. • Refresh charts, graphs, and table ranges automatically. • Export content as static images/tables into PowerPoint to keep the PPTX lightweight and stable. • Use relative/runtime path handling so the solution works regardless of folder location. • Replace legacy elements with cleaner, easier-to-maintain layouts where appropriate. • Fully comment the VBA code and structure it for future expansion. Deliverables: • Updated PPTX with automated refresh capability. • VBA source code (well documented). • Simple user guide explaining how to publish/update the deck. • Testing and refinement to ensure reliable operation across different locations and users. Your estimated timeline of ~20 hours sounds realistic, especially for cleanup, linking, testing, and debugging. I can assist with both the automation architecture and presentation refinement to ensure the final solution is robust, portable, and easy to maintain. Best regards, Ayaz Akhtar

Good day! We can build a fully portable Excel-to-PowerPoint automation solution that refreshes your 20-slide deck with the latest Excel data at the click of a button—without creating live links or OLE objects that inflate file size. Our approach would use VBA to generate clean static snapshots of charts, graphs, and table ranges directly from Excel and update the corresponding PowerPoint slides automatically. The solution will be path-independent, meaning it can run regardless of where the Excel workbook and PPT are stored, avoiding hardcoded file locations and making deployment simple across environments. We can also streamline the presentation design by replacing patched-together tables with cleaner, consistent layouts and removing unnecessary styling while preserving a professional appearance. Deliverables will include: • Cleaned and optimized PPTX • Fully commented VBA code for future maintenance • Automated chart, graph, and table updates • Portable runtime logic with no rigid folder dependencies • Clear user guide explaining how to trigger updates We have extensive experience with Excel VBA, PowerPoint automation, reporting dashboards, and dynamic presentation generation, and can help ensure the solution is reliable, maintainable, and easy to extend in the future. We would be glad to discuss the current workbook and deck structure and propose the cleanest implementation approach.

Hi. Excel-to-PowerPoint automation needs more than replacing numbers — the key is making sure charts, tables, and slide snapshots refresh cleanly, stay portable, and avoid broken hard-coded file paths or bloated OLE links. Your project reminded me of a recent reporting automation I worked on, where I handled Excel-driven PowerPoint updates, VBA-controlled chart/table exports, static image snapshots, layout cleanup, and reusable path configuration. In this kind of work, the challenge is not only linking data, but also keeping the deck tidy, fast, editable, and reliable across folders. For your project, I would use a push-based VBA workflow from Excel, clean the slide layouts, map each chart/table source, export updated static snapshots, and make the workbook/deck path editable at runtime. A few questions before estimating the final scope: Q1 - Should the macro live in Excel or PowerPoint? Q2 - Do you want charts inserted as images only, or editable PowerPoint chart objects? Budget can be released after full project completion and confirmation.

The portable part comes from resolving every path at runtime from the workbook's own location and addressing slides by shape name, so nothing is hardcoded and moving or re-ordering files won't break the update. Source paths and ranges sit in one labeled block at the top so you can re-point them without touching the logic. I do this kind of cross-app automation: I shipped a Chrome extension that bulk-uploads thousands of videos to YouTube with no API, driving the web UI directly. Will the deck and workbook always sit in the same folder, or would you prefer a one-time file picker the macro remembers?
