Design Mixing Vessel/ Heat Exchanger

Vessel is to facilitate the In-Flow of a fluid, removing the heat, and producing a single outlet flow stream.

Solution has a 20 gpm +/- flow rate from a 1-in dia. Pipe with temperature 150 deg F +/- 5 degree. Line pressure 40 psig

There is no endo or exothermic reaction on mixing of fluids. Fluids have pH in range of 5.5 to 6.5. Fluids have the approximate heat capacity, viscosity, and density of pure water.

House chilled water is available for cooling coming from 6-in dia. chilled water line carrying chilled water at approximate constant 40 degree F temperature. Chilled water pressure in the 6-inch line is [url removed, login to view] water flows through the 6-inch line at 270 gpm.

Specifications:

Resulting mixture is to be cooled to 80 degree F +/-5 degrees prior to exiting the vessel in a single stream.

Provide a 1.5 inch exit pipe for the stream.

External vessel shell is to be 316 Stainless steel. Any heat exchanger piping or tubing may be of any appropriate material. All piping needed to be schedule 40.

Requirements:

What would the design of the heat exchanger be, dimension/size/pipe size.

Calculate the over all heat transfer coefficient.

Estimate Chilled water flow requirements.

This doesnt need to be an amazing design, just a rough shape, area, dimension with the proper heat xfer calculations. Needed for a thermodynamics class homework.
