Multi-objective optimisation of the building energy retrofits

Job Description:

My project about building retrofits towards zero energy performance, I already completed the energy modelling and achieved a zero-energy performance of my case study building. The building model was created by Design Builder and simulated by EnergyPlus simulation tool.

The results were estimated based on the energy saving of the integrated retrofitting solutions, therefore pre-assessed retrofit solutions may not be the most appropriate set of measures or may require a high level of investment costs that may not be compensated in a short payback period. Which causes hesitation in decision-making.

Therefore, the goal of this task is the simultaneous optimization of the integrated retrofitting solutions based on energy-saving (ES), net present value (NPV), and time payback period (Tp) for the building service life.

The optimization procedure will be conducted by coupling EnergyPlus with modeFRONTIER, or EnergyPlus coupling with jEPlus.

The Optimization algorithm to be used is Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II).
