We are looking for an electrical engineer who has embedded and/or CAN BUS (vehicle CAN networks such as J1850, J1939, etc.) experience to assist in identifying and reading messages (IDs) on vehicles we perform upfit and integration services on. This practice is allowed by both GM & Ford as we have already contacted them for best practices and approach. While they do not provide a list of the IDs needed, they support upfitters who can decode and use these messages (in a read only fashion) on their vehicles.
Technicians here can assist with grunt work of gathering data, we require guidance, validation and assistance in integrating these messages into our current J1939 based protocol system.
Additional work may include design of an interface gateway to move messages onto our control device BUS.
Attached are some background documents to further provide examples of what we are trying to do.
Initial vehicle shall be a Chevrolet Tahoe, decoding GMLAN messages for the following signals (read only into our J1939 network): Park, Brake, Reverse, Door Open (all), low beam headlights.
