Get that right at the start and chat and payments can be added later without a rewrite. Get it wrong and the whole thing gets rebuilt. What I would build in the first phase: - Sign up and login for clients and freelancers, kept as separate roles from day one - Clients post listings with skill tags, then edit, close or review proposals on them - Freelancers browse and search by skill tag and apply in a couple of clicks - A dashboard each, showing proposals received and applications sent - An admin screen to approve, hide or remove listings I would use Laravel with PostgreSQL, deployed on your hosting, with the source in Git, a README and a short video walkthrough. Passwords are stored hashed, logins and password resets use the framework's own tested pieces, and no account can read another's data.
