Two things decide whether this file still works for you in a month. The pivot has to point at the Table rather than a fixed cell range, or a refresh won't pick up rows added later. And "Number of transactions" has to count a column that is never blank, normally the transaction ID, because counting a value column silently drops every row where that value happens to be empty. Both get built that way from the start. The data sheet comes back as a real Excel Table with a totals row, so the summary reads at the top without scrolling and the range extends itself as rows arrive. Dates get converted to genuine date values instead of text, which is the thing that makes grouping by date work at all. The pivot then groups by date and product, reporting total sales and transaction count, with slicers on both. Nothing is locked down. No VBA and no protected sheets, so you can open the pivot field list, change the grouping, and audit every calculation yourself. Comparable work: a data warehouse with window functions, PIVOT and ROLLUP feeding a reporting layer, plus reproducible Python analyses taking real datasets from raw files through to documented findings and charts. Two things I will do that are not in the brief but usually matter with raw sales exports: 1. Dates. Exports often carry two or three date formats in one column, and some of them are text that only looks like a date. Text dates break pivot grouping by month silently, so I convert them to real dates first and tell you how many were wrong. 2. Duplicates and blank rows. I flag them in a separate column rather than delete them, so the decision stays yours. You get one xlsx: the cleaned sheet as a proper Excel Table, the summary row, and the pivot with slicers for date and product. No macros, nothing locked, no add-ins needed. Two questions: 1. Roughly how many rows, and how many distinct products? 2. Should the pivot group dates by day, by month, or both? Send the workbook and you get it back the same day.
