Hi, a clean workbook where every field is keyed, typed right and checked, with anything odd parked on its own tab. The risk is silent type drift, dates that land as text and don't sort. How we would do it: load your batches into a staging sheet, coerce each column to its real type, then run a validation pass in VBA for duplicate keys, format rules and range logic. Every failure lands on an exceptions tab with its row number and a short note. Then clean rows go back into your sheet and we rerun the check. Roughly how many rows per batch? Excel's Data Validation only fires when someone types into a cell and it does nothing at all on a paste, so a sheet with duplicate checks and format constraints already on it will still swallow a bad batch quietly, and mixed batches almost always arrive by paste. So on top of the validation rules I'd build a check tab that recomputes every rule with formulas across the whole column, ISNUMBER on anything that should be a number or a date, a COUNTIFS duplicate flag on the key column, a length and pattern check on the text fields, and a blank check on the required ones, and that tab is what carries the discrepancies back to you with a short note beside each one. Dates are where these jobs go wrong. If the destination column is General, Excel takes some values as real dates and leaves the ambiguous ones sitting as text, and 03/04 becomes March or April depending on the machine, so I set the column format and pick day first or month first explicitly before a single row goes in. I clean product data for a 20,000 item store, so this is an ordinary week for me. Honest limit, I teach until 2:45 Pacific and answer in the morning and the evening. Is the incoming batch a file I can parse, a CSV or a PDF or a photo, or is it keyed off paper?
