I need a single Excel workbook that lets me record daily hours for well over 50 employees and instantly turns that data into clean payroll figures. The sheet must: • Capture clock-in / clock-out times (or total daily hours) on an easy-to-fill timesheet tab • Roll those hours into weekly and monthly summaries per employee • Calculate gross pay automatically from stored pay rates • Apply tax-deduction formulas so I can see pre- and post-tax amounts at a glance • Handle new hires or rate changes without rewriting formulas A bit of automation would be ideal—dropdown employee lists, protected formulas, maybe a small VBA routine to copy last week’s roster or lock approved periods—but keep everything in standard .xlsx format so HR can edit it without extra add-ins. Acceptance criteria 1. Workbook opens with no macro warnings other than any you deliberately add for automation. 2. I can add a new employee in one place and have them appear everywhere else. 3. Entering sample hours for three employees instantly returns correct gross pay and tax deductions that match the test figures I provide. 4. Summary tab prints neatly on A4/Letter. Hand over the finished file plus any supporting notes on how to extend the tax tables or change pay periods.

Hi, As per my understanding: you require an Excel payroll workbook for 50+ staff featuring master roster syncing, automated hour summaries, and auditable tax calculations. • Structure dynamic master tables for single-point employee onboarding. • Formulate transparent gross pay, overtime, and tax deduction models. • Design protected, A4 print-ready weekly and monthly summary reports. 1. Which specific tax brackets or jurisdiction rules apply? 2. Do you prefer logging timestamps or total daily hours? I am sure about the delivery after this first meeting. I will share my portfolio on your first message.

With a career spanning 28 years as a full-stack developer, my skills have evolved to meet the progressively complex needs of today's businesses. Among them lies my expertise in Visual Basic, Excel integration, and workflow automation - skills that perfectly align with your project requirements. I'll build a self-updating payroll workbook: timesheets, tax calc, and macros as part of the project. 1. Automation & Safeguards Dropdown employee/date selectors via data validation, Formulas and structural cells locked via sheet protection; only input cells (hours, new employee rows) editable, Named ranges for tax brackets so formulas stay readable and easy to audit, Two VBA macros: "Copy Last Week's Roster" and "Lock Pay Period" (with a visible log of locked periods) 2. Deliverables Finished workbook (.xlsm), tested against your sample data, One-page "Instructions" tab + short written notes on extending tax tables and changing pay period length, 30 minutes of post-delivery support for setup questions

Hi, I'm a Software Architect with 11+ years building automation tools with VBA and Excel formulas at scale. I understand the real challenge here: with 50+ employees, adding a new hire or rate change must propagate everywhere automatically, and the tax/gross-pay formulas need to stay transparent enough for HR to trust and audit them. What I'll deliver: - Timesheet tab for clock-in/out or daily hours, rolling into weekly/monthly summaries per employee - Automatic gross pay from stored rates, with pre/post-tax deduction formulas - Dropdown employee lists, protected formulas, and a small VBA routine to copy last week's roster / lock approved periods - New-hire and rate-change handling from a single place - Clean .xlsx with no unexpected macro warnings, print-ready summary tab I work fast, I don't ask questions mid-project, and I deliver exactly what you need. Let's build this right.

The requirement that decides the design is rate changes without rewriting formulas. If each employee's pay rate lives in one cell, the day a rate changes every past week silently recalculates at the new rate, and payroll you have already paid stops matching the workbook. So rates need an effective-from date, with the lookup picking the rate in force on the date worked. That's the difference between a workbook you keep for years and one you rebuild every quarter. Clock in and out brings its own trap. Excel stores time as a fraction of a day, so a shift ending at 01:00 works out as negative hours unless the date is carried with the time or a next-day flag is set. Otherwise night shifts subtract from the week. For 50-plus people I'd use one long entry table rather than a sheet per employee, with employee and rate tables behind it and every summary driven off that table, so a new hire is one row in one place. Tax deductions go in a visible bracket table, not buried inside formulas, so you can update slabs yourself. No macros unless you want the roster-copy button, since that forces the file to .xlsm and gives HR the warnings you want to avoid. Which country's tax rules apply, and is overtime paid at a different multiplier? Ronak

Hello, I can build this as a standard .xlsx workbook with an employee table, daily timesheets, weekly and monthly summaries, and an editable tax table. I would use effective-dated pay rates so a rate change does not alter past payroll. I have built Excel business reporting and office workflow tools, and I will validate gross pay and deductions against the three sample cases you provide, then check the A4/Letter print layout. I can work up to 20 hours per week. Could you share the tax rules and expected figures for those three sample employees?

Hi, I actually have a working timesheet + payroll workbook already built (plain .xlsx, no macros) that covers most of this: employee sheet where you add someone once and they show up everywhere, timesheet with employee dropdown and clock in/out, auto hours, gross pay from stored rates, tax and other deductions, net pay and a totals row. Formulas are locked, input cells open. For you I'd add the weekly and monthly summary per employee, a small tax table you can edit (so changing slabs is just changing numbers, not formulas), and set the summary up to print clean on A4. Rate changes won't break anything since pay is always read from the employee table. If you send me your test figures for the 3 employees I'll make sure the numbers match exactly before handing it over, plus a short note on extending tax tables and pay periods. Happy to send the current file so you can click around in it. Engin

aYou want one Excel file where HR types daily hours for 50+ staff and gets weekly and monthly totals, gross pay and tax deductions, without ever rewriting formulas. How I would build it: 1. One Employees tab holds names, pay rates and tax band. Add a person there once and they appear in every dropdown, summary and payroll line. 2. A timesheet tab takes clock-in/clock-out or total daily hours, with checks for missing or impossible times. 3. Weekly and monthly summaries per employee, then gross pay, tax and net pay from a tax table you can edit. 4. Formulas protected. An optional small macro copies last week's roster and locks approved periods; the main file stays standard .xlsx. I will test it against your three sample employees before handover, set the summary to print on one A4/Letter page, and add short notes on extending tax tables and pay periods. My portfolio has a similar sample, "Excel Invoice & Payroll Manager", with overtime and take-home pay. Two quick questions: is overtime paid above a weekly threshold, and which tax rules should the deduction table follow?

Your acceptance criteria are clear, so I'll build to them directly and test against them before handover. - One Employees tab (name, ID, pay rate, effective date). Add someone there and they appear in every dropdown and summary — no formula edits. Rate changes are dated, so past weeks keep the old rate. - Timesheet tab: clock-in/out or total hours, validated (no negative or >24h days, no unknown employee). - Weekly and monthly summaries per employee, gross pay from stored rates. - Tax deductions from a separate Tax Table tab, so you can change brackets or pay periods without touching formulas. Pre- and post-tax shown side by side. - Protected formula cells. The small VBA parts (copy last week's roster, lock an approved period) sit in an optional .xlsm copy; the main file stays plain .xlsx as you asked. - Summary tab set up for A4/Letter. I'll run your test figures for three employees and send you a check sheet showing expected vs. calculated for each, so you can confirm it before paying. My portfolio has two Excel/VBA tools built the same way: a validated entry form that refuses bad data and logs every attempt, and a consolidator that logs every correction. Estimate: 10-12 hours.

Hi! I can build this workbook to your acceptance criteria, in plain .xlsx with one optional macro file only if you want the automation. How I'd structure it: - Employees tab as the single source of truth (name, ID, pay rate, effective date), so a new hire or rate change is one row and flows everywhere through lookups - Timesheet tab with dropdown employee lists and clock-in/clock-out or total hours, with validation to avoid typos - Weekly and monthly summaries per employee with gross pay from the stored rates - Tax table on its own tab, so you can update brackets without touching formulas; pre- and post-tax amounts side by side - Protected formula cells and a print-ready A4/Letter summary - Optional small VBA: copy last week's roster and lock approved periods I'll test it against the three sample employees you provide before delivery and include a short guide on extending tax tables and pay periods. I have 10+ years with Excel and 6+ years in BI and data work. Estimated 8-10 hours. Lucas

We have just completed a similar Excel-based payroll project and can deliver a tailored workbook for your needs promptly. The workbook will capture clock-in and clock-out times while generating accurate payroll figures, ensuring a seamless experience for over 50 employees. My expertise in Excel, including advanced formulas and VBA, will help in creating an easy-to-navigate timesheet with automated features like dropdown lists and protected cells, all within the standard .xlsx format. This ensures that your HR team can manage it without any complications. Will you be providing a specific format for the test figures to ensure accurate calculations, or should I use standard rates for the initial setup? Additionally, do you have any existing employee data that needs to be incorporated? I would like to discuss your project in further detail. Best Regards, Charl

I can build this as a standard .xlsx workbook with an employee/rate table, daily time entry, weekly and monthly summaries, and gross and net pay calculations. Dropdowns and protected formulas can provide the requested controls without VBA, which cannot be stored in .xlsx. Tax deductions would use the rules and test figures you provide. I would test the three sample employees, new-hire additions and rate changes, and check the summary print layout on A4/Letter. Delivery would include the workbook and the requested notes for tax tables and pay periods. My rate is INR 1,000 per hour.
