We have a database table containing records for individuals and companies we interact with, such as mortgage advisers, solicitors, photographers and other professional contacts. Background Historically, when new records were added to the database, we did not distinguish whether each record related to an individual or a company. There are approximately 897 records that now need to be reviewed and updated. Task Overview The data will be supplied to you in CSV format. For each record, you will need to review the existing information and carry out online research to determine whether the record relates to an individual** or a company. Where a website is available, the footer section is often a useful place to find legal entity information, company names and registration details. Disclaimer and Privacy Policy pages can also be a useful source of information. If the record is an individual Please update the record as follows: - Set `directory_type` to `1` - Complete the `directory_title`, `directory_first_name` and `directory_surname` fields - If the individual has a trading name, for example, John Smith trading as Plumbfix, update the `directory_company_name` field to `Plumbfix` - The mapping for the `directory_title` field is as follows. Please input the integer value 1 = Mr 2 = Mrs 3 = Miss 4 = Ms 6 = Doctor 7 = Sir 8 = Lady 9 = TBC 10 = Professor 11 = Mx If you are unsure of the record's title, use value 9 If the record is a company Please update the record as follows: - Set `directory_type` to `2` - Complete the `directory_company_legal_name` exactly as per the Companies House entry - Complete the `directory_company_registration_number` as per Companies House - If the company has a trading name, for example, ABC Limited trading as Plumbfix, update the `directory_company_name` field to `Plumbfix` - If the company has multiple offices, set the `directory_branch_name` field. For example, if a solicitor practice had offices in Birkenhead, Heswall and Wigan, enter the relevant branch name in the field, e.g. Birkenhead. Company details should be verified using Companies House: [[login to view URL]]([login to view URL]) Please record the company information even if the company is now dissolved. If you are unsure If you cannot confidently establish whether the record is an individual or a company, please make a note of this and move on to the next record. You will be required to discuss these records with us then complete further research if necessary. Important Notes Accuracy is more important than speed. Please only update fields where you are reasonably confident that the information is correct. You should use the existing record data, online search results, company websites and Companies House where applicable to make your decision. Sample Data I have attached a CSV file containing a sample of the records. These are real records.
