this project entails the Bayesian estimation of the polychoric correlation coefficient, with the added functionality of assuming either normal or log-normal priors to handle both symmetric, right-skewed dn left-skewed distributions. the main idea is to develop a fully automated function in the R programming langauge (very similar to the polychor() function from the 'polycor' R package) so that all the user needs to provide are two vectors of data (or a frequency table) and other necessary minimum input (such as number of iterations, burning/thinning periods, etc.) and the output would be the correlation coefficient and the estimated thresholds. an added functionality of plots to track the Gibbs sampler is also required.
