I am seeking someone to articulate my job, what it is that I do and what value it provides, that I can use to verbally explain the role to people. First and foremost in general conversation, to non-technical people – think BBQ or other informal events (maybe we’ll develop a more technical version if this one works out.)
The context is 2 of Australia’s largest companies, one large bank (client) and the other a large telecommunications provider (I work for the Telco). I am a service delivery manager accountable for keeping the telco company’s network ‘up’ that the bank uses to provide services to their customers via online and mobile applications, sites and systems.
Personally, I put the customer at the centre of everything I do (at work) i.e. I drop everything when they call, when they don’t call I am quality checking the stuff we are supposed to be doing that the customer doesn’t normally see, and making sure we actually do these things.
