I’m putting together a nostalgic, “old-school” storybook to share during the next teaching season and I need help bringing it to life from start to finish. I have a soft spot for the look and feel of mid-century readers—warm palettes, hand-drawn line work, and simple, memorable narratives—and I’d like the finished book to capture that charm while still feeling fresh for today’s classroom. Here’s what I’m aiming for: • A single, self-contained story that runs roughly 18–24 illustrated pages. • Text written in clear, age-appropriate language (I’m flexible on the exact age band; if you have a proven formula for 5-7, 8-10, or even 11-13, let me know which you feel suits the concept best). • Full-color illustrations in a retro style—think lightly textured brushwork, gentle shading, and expressive characters. • A print-ready PDF laid out for standard US letter or A4, plus separate high-resolution illustration files (PNG or layered PSD). • Room on each page for teachers to add short discussion notes or vocabulary boxes. You’re welcome to pitch either an educational moral tale, a purely entertaining adventure, or something rooted in cultural heritage—as long as it feels authentic to the classic storybook vibe. I’m happy to collaborate on plot beats, page count, and any reference material you need; I mainly need your creative talent and design skills to take this past the finish line. If you’ve produced vintage-inspired children’s books, textbook inserts, or similar, I’d love to see samples. Let’s craft something timeless that teachers can pull from the shelf year after year.
