I am preparing to launch an experimental web-based service, aimed at online retailers of complex products and services. My offering will help these businesses to simplify their sales processes, thus making it easier and more enticing for their customers to buy.
To the best of my knowledge, my concept is new and unique, although other service providers exist who offer alternative (expensive) solutions to the same problem. I don't anticipate competing with these existing providers, but I believe my service will extend the same capabilities to companies at the lower end of the market.
My concept is proven to work effectively, but its marketability has not yet been tested. The objective of this assignment is to create the materials necessary to conduct a feasibility test. If the results of the test are positive, the project will be expanded to create the full range of promotional materials necessary to sell the service.
This assignment entails creating the sales copy for a marketing test and a series of AdWords ads to drive traffic to this test.
The test will be implemented in the form of a "flycatcher" page - a web page used specifically to test response rates and to gauge the interest levels of visitors. Since the service is not yet ready for commercial launch, the test page will not offer purchasing options. However, it will offer free trials to selected businesses who meet certain eligibility criteria and who are prepared to be cited as case studies. Once the required number of case-study clients has been found, the test will be stopped.
Since this type of service has never been offered before, prospects will have no mental image to compare against. It is therefore critical that the sales copy does a good job of summarizing the prospect's problem and explaining how my service solves it.
I have already made several attempts at writing copy for this project, but without success. The obstacle has been the complexity of the message that needs to be projected. Before you can commence writing copy, you will need to clearly understand and articulate the message. Your costings should therefore allow for a period of consultation with me and the creation of a message outline, prior to the main copywriting exercise.
To undertake this task, you will be provided with:
- a set of notes explaining the rationale behind the service
- a sample of the results delivered to a typical client
- my incomplete sales copy attempt, together with background notes
- a list of websites offering alternative solutions to this problem
- my full availability telephone, email, chat or video conference to answer questions
The sales pitch needs to be upbeat and persuasive, but it also needs to be highly informative and crystal clear in its logic. No hype please.
Since this is a complex topic, I anticipate that the copy will run to 1500 or 2000 words, maybe more. I am also inclined to use an audio introduction to the sales page, which must be written to integrate with the page copy.
The winning bidder must be a native speaker/writer of English, with a portfolio that includes several high-quality examples of B2B sales copy and the evidence to prove how successfully they perform.
All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. I will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
