Social Media Policy Draft

Our organisation needs a clear, comprehensive social-media policy that keeps our brand reputation front-and-centre. The document must explicitly protect the company’s image while remaining practical for everyday use. Scope of coverage The policy should apply to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and any other major network we may adopt in the future. I want language that is broad enough to cover emerging platforms yet precise enough that employees know exactly what to do today. Core sections to include • Content creation guidelines – tone of voice, approval workflow, use of visuals and third-party content. • Privacy & data protection – handling of customer data, confidentiality, and reference to relevant regulations. • Employee conduct – personal vs. professional accounts, crisis-response rules, do’s and don’ts when referencing the company. Deliverables 1. A polished, ready-to-adopt policy document (Word or Google Docs) formatted for easy internal distribution. 2. A one-page quick-reference sheet summarising the most critical do’s and don’ts. 3. Brief change-log so future updates are straightforward. Acceptance criteria • Language is concise, legally sound and brand-consistent. • Examples illustrate acceptable and unacceptable posts. • Document passes a spelling/grammar check and is internally hyperlink-ready for navigation.
